Former LSU baseball starting pitcher Gage Jump is playing well to start his second season of professional baseball. He's in Triple A with the Las Vegas Aviators, an affiliate of the Athletics.

Jump is getting reps as a starter, just as he did last year in High-A and Double-A. Through three games, he struck out 16 over eight innings. The lefty currently holds a 2.61 ERA and 1.26 WHIP.

In Jump's latest start on April 15, he recorded his longest outing of the season. The southpaw allowed two runs on four hits while picking up eight strikeouts, his largest single-game total of the year.

The Athletics selected Jump with the No. 73 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft. He spent the 2024 season in Baton Rouge after two years at UCLA. As a redshirt sophomore, he worked his way into the weekend starting rotation alongside Luke Holman.

Jump posted a 3.47 ERA through 15 starts. He pitched 83 innings and recorded 101 strikeouts as the Tigers made a run to the NCAA Tournament.
