Former LSU baseball pitcher Kade Anderson made an appearance in the MLB All-Star Futures game on Sunday in Philadelphia. After he hurled an inning, the southpaw talked about the experience from the dugout on the live broadcast.
"It was a really good experience to be playing with these guys around me," Anderson said. "[I'm] just trying to take it all in."
Anderson made the start on the mound for the American League and hurled a scoreless inning, allowing just one hit. He's one of the best hurlers in all of minor league baseball, spending the first half of the year with the Double-A Arkansas Travelers of the Seattle Mariners' organization.
Through 14 starts, Anderson posted a 1.36 ERA, a 0.69 WHIP and 108 strikeouts through 72.2 innings. He talked about his pregame routine before he starts and now he learned from veterans of the game, such as fellow former Tiger and Pittsburgh Pirates right-handed pitcher Paul Skenes.
"I really like to go on walks," Anderson said. "I've gotten to learn from so many guys along the way. I got to be around Skenes a little bit so that was a really cool experience."
