Five-star swingman Gabe Nesmith reclassifies to join Vandy in 2026

Vanderbilt head coach Mark Byington knows that the SEC will remain a gauntlet during the upcoming college basketball season, but the Commodores just received huge news about the arrival timetable of an impact recruit.

Five-star wing Gabe Nesmith, who committed to Vanderbilt late last month, is reclassifying from 2027 to 2026 and will join the team this season.

It's going to be interesting to see how coach Byington utilizes Nesmith since the future is now for the talented swingman.

Gabe Nesmith is the cousin of Indiana Pacers swingman Aaron Nesmith, who also played at Vanderbilt for two seasons from 2018 to 2020.

Nesmith is the third-highest-rated recruit in Vanderbilt basketball history, behind only Simisola Shittu and Darius Garland.
