Of all the incoming recruits brought in by Jon Scheyer this summer, Joaquim Boumtje-Boumtje may be the most intriguing. A son of former NBA player Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje, Joaquim currently plays overseas as a member of Barcelona's U18 team.

Although Boumtje-Boumtje didn't play high school basketball in America, he's dominated his age group in many ways overseas, leading his team to an 8-0 record in the Adidas Next Generation Tournament. Last week, Boumtje-Boumtje put together his strongest game of the competition, scoring 24 points in 22 minutes to go along with six rebounds and four assists. He also impressed from 3-point range, knocking down five of his six attempts from beyond the arc. He followed that performance with a 22-point, 11-rebound double-double the next day before posting 17 points and six rebounds yesterday in a close win against rivals Real Madrid.

Overall, in those eight contests, Boumtje-Boumtje averaged 18.9 points, eight rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.3 steals per game. If these numbers are any indication of Boumtje-Boumtje's future output with the Blue Devils, Jon Scheyer may have just nabbed one of the most underrated recruits of the summer.
