I wouldn't say that the offense was anemic last year, and injuries aside, they should be better this year. JMO.
He wasn’t calling it anemic. He said it would be anemic if there’s a single key injury to MHJ. And isn’t wrong. Teams would go from lightly considering our passing game to ignoring it altogether other than Trey.

Biggest issue with Adams is he was a 24 year old rookie. They really need to coach him up because Seattles defensive line destroyed him and dude is not getting much stronger...so the technique needs to improve

He came from two seasons with Illinois; it's not like he's coming from LSU or Texas with an advanced training program where he's been for years. I totally understand the age thought (I'm captain of The Rookies Are Too Damn Old party), but there could be room for physical growth.

But I generally agree, the benefit will likely come more from him becoming a professional and not from physical maturity.

I thought Evan Brown was fairly solid last year and is a legitimate NFL starting guard.

RG was absolutely a problem and hindered the OL as a whole. The OL really took a dive when Paris went down, which is understandable to a degree. My issue is that I would have loved for the team to bring in at least a credible veteran at RG, because Adams was pretty shaky.

For better or worse it looks like the team is going with Adams and are just hoping he can make a leap. We all know how that can turn out.
I don't disagree with you there. The issue is that he needs to be #3 in the IOL group talent wise. He's not elevating anything, but is a lunch pail type starter. Unfortunately, Adams is significantly less than that, talent wise, and will get our QB killed and our offense blown to pieces in the passing game. And that's just our starter--who do we have to provide depth? For better or worse? I will say for worse, considering all the cashy-money cap space we are sitting on, this team is idiotically rolling with Adams at starter. I have real optimism elsewhere, but not much with the offense right now.

Agree. There is a difference between upgradable and bad. Both Brown and Adams are upgradable, but neither were bad at the end of the season. I would prefer better depth behind the group as a whole, but OG is a position that there are still options to improve.
Who does Fro assist in this scenario? Both will need help. The answer would be Adams, who needs no end of help in the passing game, but that leaves our lunch pail guy alone on an island. No bueno. No bueno at all.

Talent-wise? He's a third-round pick entering his second season.

Evan Brown is a former UDFA journeyman who's been on rosters for six different franchises in six NFL season.

There has been zero news on that front.

My guess... once he wants to sign a contract he's going to get a physical. I think he is still rehabbing and won't really shop himself unless he is 99% sure he will ace it.
He’s said repeatedly he wants to return to the Cards. All I’m hearing is he’s expected to be back to 100%. Doesn’t seem to be asking for a big raise. Not certain why they haven’t signed him

If Evan Brown and Isaiah Adams are 2/3 of your IOL, you have a problem.
Brown is serviceable at best, and he is what he is. But, we have no idea what Adam’s ceiling is just yet. Even with a new OL coach, that room is still one of the best coached rooms we have. Wouldn’t be surprised if we bring in a veteran while we continue to develop the young guys we have.

correction. It "WAS" the best coached room.
We have no idea if this new OLine coach is capable of developing NFL level players.
He coached PB&J @ OSU...but Paris made noticeable strides in improvement during his rookie season.
we cannot discount that Paris was adjusting to playing RT...so improvement was to be expected as the season progressed....but we dont know for sure at this point.
Im waiting to base my judgement on the new OLine coach based on Adams I think. If his skillset jumps dramatically over last season then maybe we can conclude it is due to the new position coach.

But as of this moment, Line coach is a very big question mark.

we were top 4 in runs over 10 yards..... top 5 in sacks given up... and 2nd least penalized team in the league, a nod to Oline not having to hold to make up for talent deficiency.

Calling the O-Line horrendous is just flat out wrong. Anyone who watched the cardinals last year and concluded "Oline is our biggest problem" doesn't know ball.

I dont want to be 7 games into the regular season bemoaning the anemic offensive output because, lets say, the starting WRs are Mike Wilson and Zay Jones because MHJ sprained an ankle in week 2
While accurate welcome to 75% of the NFL…

You're not referring to talent; you're referring to draft position. You wouldn't say "Talent wise, Tom Brady was a 6th-round pick." You can say "he is projected to be XYZ" or "As a 3rd rounder, I would expect him to have X talent level."

As of the end of the season, Evan Brown was much better. But why, pray tell, are we comparing them? They're both ATM slated to start, so it isn't one or the other/one over the other.

Sometimes. What happens if Adams is who he has shown us to be in pass pro? I know my response.
Not sure you can define a rookie who started 5 games as "Adams is who he has shown us to be"

You're acting as if this is a 4th year pro who started 3 years straight...

Yes, in the history of Arizona Cardinals offensive lines that was for sure one of the better seasons. Of course, I cannot think of even one year where you would call one of the offensive lines in Arizona "great". Usually not even remotely close to that.

It's a heuristic, obviously. Yes, there are outliers and mistakes in every draft. But if you're comparing a first-round pick to a UDFA, you're going to -- in absence of all other evidence -- conclude that the first round pick is MORE TALENTED.

Evan Brown was performing better, but (1) he'd cleared the threshold to be in the NFL for five-plus seasons, and (2) he'd had the experience to know what to do.

I don't think the talent difference between Brown and Adams is huge, even if there was a noticeable production gap at the end of last season.

I don't disagree with the above. My stance is that, with Fro providing good play in the middle, we don't want two players that aren't as good as he is surrounding him. That will leave our C with too much help needed to both sides and weaken our IOL, to Kyler's and the team's detriment. Evan Brown on one side? Fine. Adams on the other? Well, if he hasn't improved significantly--and I do mean significantly--over the offseason, the IOL will struggle. And that doesn't even address lack of depth at the position.
