According to who?
me

if hernandez was going to happen it already would have - we're past the uncomfortable stage - i imagine the talks have dried up at least for now

we're not the only ones passing up on hernandez each day - the whole league is - and that's after guard becoming a higher commodity with the way the eagles destroyed the chiefs - that's why booker went hella early in my hippie opinion

monti wanted fries (and likely booker?) - i think hernandez will be somewhere else for training camp

One of two things. They have an offer/numbers on the table from us or we want to upgrade that position improving the pass protection side of the equation?

I started following sports in the 1940's by listening to games on radio, and I lived in NY. Pretty sure it was Red Barber (Dodgers) who used the term catbird seat, and not Mel Allen. And, thanks for the memories.
You’re right, I blew that reference

Well, "Other than the big gaping hole at a starting IOL spot, how is our IOL a weakness" is obviously disingenuous. You want to set aside the major hole as we consider the holes at IOL? Gimme a break.
If Evan Brown or Isaiah Adams are your worst offensive lineman, you have an acceptable NFL offensive line. It's when those guys are your 2nd or 3rd best lineman (which was where we ended up late last season) where you run into big trouble.

Gotta trust Monti that Jonah Williams will be ready to start the season. I'd love to have another IOL to compete for a starting job. Maybe Jon Gaines surprises.

I thought Evan Brown was fairly solid last year and is a legitimate NFL starting guard.

RG was absolutely a problem and hindered the OL as a whole. The OL really took a dive when Paris went down, which is understandable to a degree. My issue is that I would have loved for the team to bring in at least a credible veteran at RG, because Adams was pretty shaky.

For better or worse it looks like the team is going with Adams and are just hoping he can make a leap. We all know how that can turn out.

Dude was a rookie and playing in a beat up line next to a rotation of right tackles. Give him a chance.
i dont mind giving him a chance -- but if a team has expectations for the playoffs -- you better have a plan B

because right now -- if you get four games into the regular season and discover he cant cut it -- you have a real problem

last year at this time I thought that Monti needed to have signed one big $ guy (like Greenard) and one solid role player in the defense

he didnt, and the team missed the playoffs by a thin margin

this offseason, he doesnt need to spend big to bring in a couple vets who could really help

I dont want to be 7 games into the regular season bemoaning the anemic offensive output because, lets say, the starting WRs are Mike Wilson and Zay Jones because MHJ sprained an ankle in week 2

bottom line is the right side of the offensive line is incomplete/ under roster construction. You didnt resign JC to run behind that crap and you certainly have had enough of K1 being pressured through the middle.

You have a lot of cap room left, buy a f'ing guard and end the madness

Agree. There is a difference between upgradable and bad. Both Brown and Adams are upgradable, but neither were bad at the end of the season. I would prefer better depth behind the group as a whole, but OG is a position that there are still options to improve.
