Not at all. Stick to using polite language or darksider/koolaider terms. (at least for now)
I'm still relatively new to this forum, BUT, why the need to use either of these terms? Aren't we here to debate/discuss/occasionally complain or very occasionally praise the cardinals? Everyone has their own opinions for whatever reasons, and it shouldn't be taken personally. It's a forum...which some can take a little comfort in discussing sports that you may not be able to do at home.
Whew...I'm a little dizzy after that

You make a valid point about debate the topic not the poster. But that’s a different rule. That’s not questioning their fandom. I’m okay if you want to move the goalposts and argue that. But it’s not questioning fandom. Words have meaning. And every day we see what I consider the bastardization of language. It’s a problem that creates other problems. Let’s not do that.
except "stanning: is generally an implication that a person is supporting the organization, not the team. subtle, but its there...not a cardinal fan, a bidwill fan

obviously new if you think the complaining is in any way "occasional"...unless getting out of bed in the morning is an occasion.

I was just trying to be neutral...didn't want the Jets or the Sharks coming for me....guessing Jets are Light siders (pun intended) and Sharks are Dark siders or vice versa....did I mention that I NEVER went to HARVARD???

I can understand using the word stan to describe a fan because a stan is - an overzealous or obsessive fan.

A shill makes no sense when considering a shill - pretends to unbiasedly support something they secretly have an interest in. Huh?

See how only one really makes sense.

Synonym of a shill is a stooge or a plant. If you do not see negative connotations in that, I don't know what to tell you.

Really reaching to make these words describing types of fans actually mean questioning people's fandom. Only time I feel someone is questioning someone's fandom is when they claim someone is not a fan. See how simple that is?
If someone is called a stan, or a shill while I still have moderator powers, they are getting banned for name calling.

See how simple that is?

I don't have to ask an AI model to understand the explicit and implicit meaning of words.

Questioning something doesn't exclusively mean denying the existence of it.

But here you go, from Gemini (with sources). Note the parts I bolded.

You're right - it IS pretty straightforward! Expressing doubt about the validity or suitability of people's fandom is indeed a form of questioning their fandom.

I believe that calling someone a Stan or shill or Mouth of Sauron is doing just that. You may disagree on this part, but not on the meaning of "questioning".
I don’t think you understand the very words you copied and pasted. I know you’re a smart guy. Really smart. But this isn’t robotics. It’s English. And apparently not your strong suit.

You’re right about supporting the organization but it most certainly does NOT mean they don’t support the team. Where you got that I had NO idea.

My .02¢ on the word stan. I had never heard that word used in the context it is used here until I read it here in this forum. My initial reaction, and still my reaction, is that it is used in a derogatory manner on here. I even had to look the word up on line to see it's meaning (don't remember what it said now). In my mind, as the word is used on here, is not meant to be good or nice when referring to someone.

Actually Stan(ley) is my middle name. :Dold . Remember Stan the Man Musial? I was named after him. :D

Yes we want Healthy debate here!

That doesn't mean that fans here have to be overly positive about every move that the Cardinals make. What kills debate isn't whether you are overly positive fan or tend to be more negative/skeptical. It's when posters are so certain they are right and include mockery towards posters who have the opposite belief. That is not healthy debate and I would like to see less of that!

We can all debate a move that the Cardinals have made. The problems come from when debaters start throwing out terms like delusional, unhinged, not a fan, stan, or use the "laughing" emoji on someone's post negatively, etc.

IMO as a community of Cardinals fans we all need to work on having a more healthy debate here in order to make things enjoyable for everyone. Let me give some examples.

Healthy Debate:

"I don't like the Cardinals keeping Rallis as the DC because we all saw how his defense looked last year. Why should we expect anything different this season?"

or

"I'm fine with keeping Rallis as the DC, I think injuries hampered the D, especially during the second half of the season"

Unhealthy Debate:

"The Cardinals are stupid for keeping Rallis, anyone who likes this move is delusional"

or

"How could you not like keeping Rallis? You must not be a fan!"

Can everyone see the difference here? The unhealthy ones shut down all conversation and end by mocking the other side of the debate. Where the healthy ones present your opinion with evidence and don't include the high and mighty mockery targeted at the other side of the debate.

Apparently stronger than yours!

But I'm sure everyone is tired of our semantics debate, including me.
