The Atlanta Falcons superstars are starting to gain the national respect they deserve.
As the franchise enters a new era, a new coach, new faces in the front office, one thing has remained constant, the offensive superstars on the roster. Led by Bijan Robinson, who has become one of the best running backs in the NFL since being drafted in the first round by Atlanta back in 2023, the team is looking to reach the postseason for the first time since 2017.
If some recent predictions are correct, players like Robinson will help lead them there this upcoming season. Recently, CBS Sports released its NFL Top 100 players entering the new year, and the Falcons star took a massive step forward compared to last year's spot.
He moved up to 18th-best in the league, up from 39th last season. Writer Pete Prisco had nothing but positive things to say about him heading into his 4th season. He states that Robinson "has developed into one of the game's best dual-threat backs. He was fourth in rushing with 1,478 yards and also caught 79 passes for 820 yards. He has averaged 4.9 yards per carry over his three seasons."
These are solid points to move Robinson up into the top 20 of NFL superstars and as the top running back listed on the rankings.
The biggest question, of course, surrounding Bijan Robinson is not necessarily how capable he is on the field, but how he will respond performance-wise if a contract extension is not reached before the season begins. The Falcons front office, now led by new President of Football Matt Ryan, has reached deals with both wide receiver Drake London and tight end Kyle Pitts, but has yet to finalize anything with Robinson as training camp is about to begin.
In a position that has been heavily scrutinized for reaching deals of second contracts due to longevity concerns, it is certainly worth paying attention to how much workload Robinson would be willing to take on if he is forced to play under a contract year.
All will be known soon enough, as the Falcons will play the Pittsburgh Steelers the first week of the season, a mere 70 days away.
