The Golden State Warriors were eliminated from the 2025 NBA Playoffs on Wednesday night after falling to the Minnesota Timberwolves 121-110.

What the Warriors did down the stretch of the season to even get to this point was an impressive feat in and of itself.

Before the trade for Jimmy Butler, the Warriors faced an uphill climb to even make the playoffs. They had chances in the season's final week to clinch an outright spot, but critical losses sent them to the NBA Play-In Tournament.

Ex-NBA Player delivers Steve Kerr, Jonathan Kuminga message

One oddity was that, down the stretch of the season, Steve Kerr benched Jonathan Kuminga.

It wasn't until Jimmy Butler's tailbone injury that we saw Kuminga get playing time again. But once Butler was back, Kuminga saw sparing minutes, if any.

It was a similar story in the Western Conference semifinals when Curry went down with a hamstring injury.

After Game 1, Kuminga emerged as the Warriors' top option, scoring 24.25 points per game.

Former NBA player Chandler Parsons gave his opinion on Kuminga with the Warriors moving forward.

"Clearly, Steve Kerr isn't a fan of Jonathan Kuminga," Parsons said. "Jonathan Kuminga is still a stud. He's still so young. He's still super valuable and he showed that in this series.

"He showed so much in that series, just to stay ready, stay professional, and I hope he gets a huge payday, and I do hope it's somewhere else. I think the best thing the Warriors could do is a sign-and-trade, so at least they can get something for that asset and not just lose him for nothing."

After leading the Warriors in scoring after Steph Curry's hamstring injury, Kuminga deserves the opportunity to shine away from Golden State ️

Kuminga is set to become a restricted free agent this summer.

With glaring needs such as a true rim protector and a third scorer, the Warriors will likely match any offer sheet for Kuminga in hopes of a sign-and-trade, considering they don't have a first-round pick they could get anything for.

Considering how much Kuminga and Butler play alike, it's unlikely they choose to bring him back for next season, considering his lack of shooting ability.
