The Kansas City Chiefs have weeks until training camp begins, and there are potential concerns about their wide receiver room.
During a recent episode of the Speakeasy podcast, former Chiefs running back LeSean McCoy issued a warning to quarterback Patrick Mahomes about the problems in his wide receiver room that could hold the team back again in 2026.
"Patrick (Mahomes), you should be worried, just because, man, I don't know, man, it's like a trust thing, it's hard to trust Rashee Rice. I keep trying to give him a pass in the past, in the past, and he keeps messing up, messing up, and messing up, and after a while, it's like, Yo, I gotta believe you for who you are," said McCoy, "If you show me once, I kind of don't believe it. You show me twice, I kind of believe it. You show me three times, and I definitely believe it. It seems like he keeps getting into something. Andy Reid is the best at getting players help, and also helping them to be even better persons is just not just a better athlete, so I'm worried about that."
Rice underwent surgery before he was sentenced to time in jail? cleaning up debris in his right knee. He missed voluntary offseason workouts and mandatory minicamp, but is expected to be fully available for the start of training camp next month.
McCoy wasn't done ranting, and he also focused on receiver Xavier Worthy.
"I told y'all from Jump Street that (Xavier) Worthy is not that good, he's a guy that times fast, but he don't play fast. I don't see it, so I'm worried about the Chiefs' offense." said McCoy, "I think he'll (Mahomes) be good, but just that the weapons around him the last couple years, the weapons haven't been right, and the guys that have been there, like Rashee, he's been outside of football due to stuff, so I'm worried."
Worthy finished the 2025 season with 42 receptions for 532 yards and a touchdown. He also had 11 rushes for 87 yards in 14 games played. He has seemingly recovered from offseason surgery to repair a torn labrum suffered in Week 1 last season.
