SPRINGFIELD, Mo–The Evangel Valor women’s basketball team made a big jump in this week’s NAIA poll.
The Valor moving from number 22 to number 17 in the rankings.
This after Evangel won it’s 15th straight game last week.
Madi Wallace’s team is 16 and one overall and solidly in first place in the KCAC.
Wednesday night the Valor hosted Ottawa, and Evangel was trying for a season sweep of the Braves.
And Casey Hambleton was the defensive player of the week last week, and shows some offense to get the game going.
Then the corner three is off, but Heaven Shockley is there for the board and the bucket, 9-4 Valor.
Alyssa McCarty had it dialed in, this step back three makes it a five point Evangel lead.
Second quarter, Brooklyn Kearbey with the jumper to make it 23-18.
The valor was led by Casey Hambleton, she hits this triple from the top of the arc.
She led Evangel with 20 points.
Ottawa forced this game into overtime, but Evangel wins its 16th straight, 83-76.
On the men’s side, Evangel was trying to snap a two game losing skid against the Braves.
And this was a nail biter with Drew McMillin making two free throws with two seconds left to lift the Valor to a 73-72 win.
