The Eagles have signed wide receiver Elijah Moore to a one-year deal, a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed to NJ.com. NFL Network broke the news on Tuesday night.

Moore is close friends with Eagles star wideout A.J. Brown, who reportedly wants to be traded, according to multiple reports this offseason.

Brown and Moore were teammates at Ole Miss, but their connection extends beyond the field. In the past, Brown has credited Moore for helping him through depression and mental health struggles. Moore has said he looks up to Brown like a brother and appreciates his mentorship.

Maybe the Eagles are hoping signing Moore will help convince Brown to return next season, but that’s a big assumption for now. Moore improves the depth of the wide receiver room and will compete to make the team as a backup. Brown returning would actually hurt Moore’s chances of making the roster. If Brown doesn’t return, that would push Johnny Wilson and Darius Cooper up the depth chart and potentially leave a roster spot open for Moore.

The Jets drafted Moore in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft and got flashes but not consistent production out of him. Two years later, New York traded him to the Browns for a second-round pick. Moore struggled to advance his game in Cleveland, not finishing with more than 700 yards in a single season.

When Moore signed a one-year, $5 million deal with the Bills last offseason, he was expected to make some impact for Buffalo’s offense in 2025, but he only finished with 9 catches for 112 yards and zero touchdowns in nine games with the team. Buffalo waived him last November, and he finished the year on the Broncos’ practice squad.

The Eagles are giving Moore another chance to turn around his career, but it’s unclear if he will get to play with Brown again.
