Looks like Duke will play Washington State on Saturday, November 21, in the Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, California.

That’ll be a fun road trip and a good draw for West Coast Blue Devil fans.

However, that’s not the big news. What is the big news? It’s that ESPN is reporting that Michigan’s Dusty May will take the Dallas Mavericks job.

That means a lot of things. First, the coaching carousel is about to crank up again – and just when you thought it was safe to go outside.

It also means that the current roster gets 15 days to make transfer plans if they so desire, so there’s going to be a feeding frenzy by programs with significant cash, although a lot of them have already spent their budget.

And third, it makes the Duke-Michigan game less appealing. The plan is (was?) to play in Miami’s loanDepot Park, but if Michigan is suddenly rebuilding. what’s the point? The game’s appeal, which was very high, is likely to plummet.

It’s an interesting move by the Mavericks, and it finally puts to rest their pursuit of Duke coach Jon Scheyer, but it’s going to cause all kinds of chaos around college hoops. Should be fun.
