Do we match up better against Seahawks?

It looks like Sennaca Wallace will be starting at wr this week along with Branch. Gore presents as much of a problem as Alexander but I believe the Seahawks have a better offensive line. Hasselbeck is less mobile than Smith.

If our D plays like it did last night , the Seahawks will have their hands full.

On defense I think the Hawks are overall better than the 49ers , however, their db's don't match up as well as the 49er's db's.

Any thoughts?

I watched the entire TB/SEA game on Sunday, and the Hawks started slow, but really picked it up in the second quarter. TB outplayed them early, but all of a sudden, there was a big momentum change, and Seattle dominated from then on.

Garcia was hurried a lot, and they sacked him (5?) times

they also knocked Cadillac out for the game, and Garcia for a few series

Seattle's offense is much better than SF, so the D will definitely be challenged

There is no way in heck that Wallace will be starting at WR - You will see Branch, Bureleson and Engram starting the game - then you may see some 4 WR sets with those 3 and Ben Obamunu or Courtney Taylor. You almost certainly will NOT see Wallace play any at WR this week.

Wallace is still our 2nd string QB and until Frye has more experience in our system you won't be likely to see Wallace line up at WR because there is too much risk of him getting hurt. Even once Holmgren is comfortable enough with Frye back there, it is doubtful that Seneca would be used specifically as a starting WR. More likely they will work in a number of predefined plays per game in which he will line up - some may be designed to go to him as a WR - others could be designed to hand the ball off to him with the intention of him throwing the ball and others still will likely be with him as a decoy to distract from where we really want to work the ball.

Seneca Wallace WILL NOT be starting at WR. The starters will be Deion Branch, Nate Burleson, and Bobby Engram. D.J. Hackett is injured and won't play. The fourth receiver will be "preseason hero" Ben Obomanu. Courtney Taylor will have the fifth spot but will probably never see the field.

I don't think Holmgren will risk throwing Wallace in for more than a gadget play or two until Charlie Frye learns the offense.

Honest question though: Did you think your defense played extremely well last night or did the San Francisco offense play extremely bad? I thought your run D was pretty stout but I attributed the rest to the 49ers just looking bad. Anyway, while Hasselbeck is "less mobile" than Smith (although you may be overestimating how much), he's also far more seasoned and more accurate. We also have a much better stable of receivers than them.

I think the key to this game will be Leinart and your offensive line. We got five sacks last week and a ton hits on the (near sacks) on the Bucs QBs (including Garcia who is more mobile than Leinart). If your O-line and QB play the way they did last night, who's covering Boldin and Fitzgerald won't matter. But for what it's worth, Trufant has historically done well against you guys and our safeties are pretty good in coverage. I don't think they'll put Jennings one one one with either Boldin or Fitzgerald.

Should be a good game though.

I would counter we already matchup very well against the 49ers and lost the game on a handful of missed opportunities to make plays at the end.

Do we matchup with the Seahawks? It all starts and ends with how well we contain Shaun Alexander.

I really think the Cards will win this game and they may win it handily, something like 27-16. One thing missing for Seattle in this game will be the big plays that Darrell Jackson always gave them against the Cards. Another thing that hurts Seattle, and i'm stealing this from the TV game analyst, is that it's hard to have a #1 WR that is the size of Branch. Steve Smith is the exception. Guys like Santana Moss and Branch are very good players but they are inconsistent as the main, go to guys.

Correct. They'll probably use him more as a gadget play guy more than anything but I doubt they'll do it much until they get Frye up to speed. That said, it wouldn't shock me at all to see Wallace come into the game as a decoy or even to run one gadget play this week.

Well, considering i had as many catches a Branch did on Sunday maybe he needs to start "fighting" for the ball more. Plus, maybe the Niners offense was out of sync for a reason:the Cardinals defense. The same defense that Matt Hasselback has struggled with in the past when visiting Arizona. We'll see what happens Sunday but i don't see how Seattle can be happy with struggling at home for alot of the game against what may be the worst team in the NFC.

The Seattle D's weakness is stopping the run. They were soft last year, and last week, Cadillac averaged 5 yards a carry till he left.

On offense, the big difference between Seattle and SF is that Hasselbeck wont miss the throws that Alex Smith did last night.

I'm not so sure. I'll stick with my guess that Seattle backslides a lot this year and the Niners will win the NFCW next year, if not this year.

Typically, a young team makes its biggest improvement from game 1 to game 2. If Leinart plays as badly against Seattle as he did yesterday, we are in trouble. If he settles down, we will be in this game late, with a chance to win.

Seattle is still slightly better than we are, in my opinion, because of Hasselbeck. Slightly may not be enough to win a road game here.
