DiJonai Carrington’s spat with Sophie Cunningham took another turn in the Chicago Sky’s most recent game.

Carrington received a Flagrant 2 foul and was ejected from Chicago’s defeat to the Indiana Fever last weekend for swiping her arm across Cunningham’s face.

The Sky guard then posted “White Privilege” on social media shortly after her ejection, starting a cultural and political debate.

Carrington has since claimed the post was not about Cunningham, but she has not explained what she really meant.

The 28-year-old returned to the court and had a season-best performance in the Sky’s game against the Seattle Storm on Monday.

DiJonai Carrington matches Sophie Cunningham’s rare WNBA achievement

DiJonai Carrington contributed a career-high 26 points, six rebounds and five steals against the Seattle Storm.

Carrington’s performance was not enough to prevent Chicago from losing 97-88, but she did achieve a remarkable feat.

Ironically, she became the first WNBA guard to produce that stat line since Sophie Cunningham in 2022.

This coincidence adds another layer to the ongoing storyline between the two players following their controversial on-court clash.

Cunningham, who has also been at the heart of the transgender athletes in women’s sports debate, will next play against the New York Liberty on Tuesday.
