I think this poll is closer than the 49 ML- 2 DA indicates. Maybe the Cardinals would do well either way?
With that said I like the way TOAST has conducted himself during his time in AZ and think he should start week 1. If he is given a chance and does well in the regular season I can see myself quickly becoming a Toastphile. :p

I don't really think the game made it clearer. Did ML outplay DA? Yes, but DA still played well. 111 QB rating is nothing to scoff at.

More importantly, I think playing the Bears will all their starting LBers out helped both QBs look good. After seeing what the Texans did to Dallas tonight and what we know about the Titans I just don't feel like I really learned that much about either QB. We learned more about how crappy the Bears are playing right now than we did about ourselves IMO.

DA still threw lasers and ML still was accurate but didn't really throw deep a whole lot. Difference is they were both more successful doing it because they had time to throw for the most part.

I dont mind that, as long as it gets the team in the endzon, plus it eats up more clock...Matt would absolutely thrive in a true WCO...

Definitely agree with this. While this offense will never be a true WCO with the terminology they do have a good size quick passing package that i'd like to see used more and it probably will be. It's hard to say if the offense we are seeing now will look like what we will see for Game 1 but I think it's important to get the ball out of Matt's hands quickly, run the football and chip more often with our backs on the DE's because as we saw agasint Houston and tonight, a good DE is going to beat us up. I think overall Matt has the higher ceiling and has been in this offense longer and I just don't think he has done anything to warrant losing his job. If we start out 1-5 or something maybe you gotta re look it but I think Matt gives us the best chance to win consistently at this point.

I like how people keep pointing at Leinart not throwing deep like he is in there calling his own plays or something! Get a clue people Leinart is not his own offensive coordinator he runs the plays GIVEN to him, and has been running them near perfection. He has NO turnovers and hasn't really been given a great gameplan by Whiz to succeed YET he still is. Whiz is really playing with fire if the guy who is outperforming the other is not the starter players will also start to question what the HELL is our coach thinking?

Are you trying to imply that no WR's run deep routes when Matt is playing? I call bunk if that's the case.

I am implying a SMART QB takes what the defense is giving him and not trying to force a ball downfield to guys who either aren't open or not getting open in TIME for Leinart to deliver the ball to them. You know QB's who takes what the D gives them are MUCH more successful than the other hence a DA type career and a Kurt Warner type of career. Not saying you can't even go deep but for god sakes its not like Matt has had a ton of time to drop back and throw deep. People act like he has a noodle for an arm. If you remember correctly he can throw the ball down the field its not like we have never seen him do it.

Tonight just reaffirmed what I've thought all along. Neither QB makes me feel overly optimistic about the season, but it would be much easier for Leinart to get his confidence back than it would be for Anderson to turn into an accurate QB for the first time in his life.

When Anderson was in, there was some throws that the receivers had to make nice catches on. The one Stephen Williams was blasted on (after catching it behind him) comes to mind. It was in the general area, and he moved the offense well once, but the offense was like an old car with a rough engine. When Leinart was in, guys were hit in the numbers and the O was quite smooth. Both quarterbacks had nothing but the starting Bears D. Leinart really should have had 2 TD drives.

Leinart's definitely the starter.

While this is true, let's not overlook that one drive was because Hightower ran for 42 yards out of a 48 yard drive.

Cream rises to the top, time will soon take care of who is the better QB to lead the team. Whiz isn't out there on an island making snap judgments on who should start. I would think he would include the opinions of others (Card coaching staff) before coming to a final conclusion.

He watched Warner shred teams throwing almost nothing but short, quick routes in many games the past two years. Remember how we were last in big plays in the passing game last year?

So, I'm not surprised he's taking what the defense is leaving open.

Although, I think we ended up second to last in plays over 40.

I think we will need both QBS at some point in the season anyway.

Anyone else notice how the play action really opened everything up? For that, Matt is the guy.

And I was almost the 4th vote for DA because I wasn't sure of the question let alone the answer. I think Matt has clearly outplayed DA in the preseason games but I felt that way prior to last night's game also. There really hasn't been a question in my mind which guy appears to give us the best chance to win. However, if the question relates to the decision that coach is going to make, well, that's a different story. I still think DA will start against the Rams.

While this is true, let's not overlook that one drive was because Hightower ran for 42 yards out of a 48 yard drive.

True, Hightower had most of the yards on that drive. But on the first drive, every play was a pass from Leinart. The only reason there wasn't a TD was because of fumble call that could have gone either way. And every pass on that drive but two was 7-9 yards (one pass was 5 yards, the other was an incompletion).
