The Detroit Pistons are bringing back one of their most dependable role players.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, veteran forward Javonte Green has agreed to return to Detroit on a one-year, $3.95 million contract.

The move gives the Pistons another experienced, high-energy wing as the team continues assembling its roster for the 2026-27 season.

Pistons Retain Valuable Veteran Depth

Green quietly became an important contributor for Detroit during the 2025-26 campaign.

The 32-year-old appeared in all 82 regular-season games, averaging 6.9 points in 17.6 minutes per game while shooting an impressive 38.1 percent from three-point range.

While his offensive production wasn’t eye-popping, Green earned playing time through his defensive versatility, hustle, and ability to impact games without needing the basketball.

Another Piece of Detroit’s Busy Offseason

The agreement continues what has been an active offseason for President of Basketball Operations Trajan Langdon.

The Pistons have already added perimeter shooting, reshaped the roster through several trades, and retained key veterans as they look to build on last season’s success. Bringing Green back provides continuity and preserves one of the team’s most reliable defensive wings.

His ability to defend multiple positions and knock down open three-pointers should once again make him a valuable rotation piece.

The Bottom Line

Javonte Green may not generate the headlines of some of Detroit’s bigger offseason moves, but his return gives the Pistons another proven veteran who understands his role and consistently contributes on both ends of the floor.

For a team with playoff aspirations, keeping experienced role players like Green could prove just as important as adding star talent.
