The Detroit Lions inked another former UFL wide receiver, adding Lawrence Keys III to its roster ahead of next month's training camp.
Keys spent this spring with the Houston Gamblers and was both an offensive and special teams weapon. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound receiver finished second in the UFL with 1,001 all-purpose yards over the Gamblers' 10-game schedule.
Keys registered 349 receiving yards on 24 receptions including two touchdown catches. The 26-year-old also returned 19 kickoffs for 518 yards and 11 punts for 134 yards and a 12.2 average, which ranked third in the league.
After going undrafted in 2024, Keys signed with the Buffalo Bills. But, he was released prior to the start of the 2024 NFL season.
During his college career at Notre Dame and then Tulane, Keys caught 81 passes for 1,080 yards and nine touchdowns. Keys' most productive collegiate season was 2023 when he hauled in 30 passes for 296 yards and two scores.
The Lions also announced that it had waived wide receiver Kyre Duplessis.
