This was clearly inferior to Man of Steel for me. Corenswet was well cast which is half the battle and the scenes with him and Lois were the best but everything else was cartoonish and silly. My dream idea for Superman after Reeve is Cavill with a better script.

I think some of his stuff is amazing but lot of it feels the same. His last true home run was the Guardians Christmas Special. Loved Guardians 2.

I think Guardians 3 is clearly the worst entry in the franchise, Suicide Squad 2 was awful, and Creature Commandos was just animated Guardians of the Galaxy.

Guardians 3 actually has the highest audience rating (94%) of the trilogy. FWIW, I agree. I thought the Rocket backstory was great.

Okay saw it today. I liked the things I didn't think I would like and didn't like the things I thought I would like. I would give it 3 stars out of 5. Overall I came away disappointed because this should have been a much better movie based on the actors performances.

First off, I was way off about Corenswet. He was fantastic as Superman. The best parts of the film are him in smalll moments and with the equally amazing cast of Lois Lane. A movie that focused predominantly on them I would have loved.

Secondly, Fillon as Guy Gardner was great. Mr Terrific was MOSTLY terrific but is also the biggest plot hole in the whole movie. Metamorpho (?) was someone I never heard of and he was great.

Third, the Kents low key being the real heroes was super touching.

4th. The troll farm was hilarious

Now the bad:

#1 Krypto sucked. He's the Goats in Thor Love and Thunder. It was funny the first few times until it becomes grating. It is mega grating by the end. It takes a lot for me to not like a dog and here we are. It's worse because apparently this over used gag will be in Supergirl too.

#2. This one hurts. Nicholas Holt sucked as Luthor. I love Nicholas Holt. He's just the whiney man baby that the High Evolutionary is in Guardians 3. He's a mustache twirling villain who has no back up plan if he stuff fails and gives no craps if he destroys his own city. Val in Thunderbolts is a better Lex Luthor than actual Lex Luthor. He is better than Jessie Eisenberg's horrific performance but that's a low bar.
#3. The Mr Terrific plot hole. From Mr Terrific putting in zero effort to look into how Superman lost his first fight ever to him seeing Superman fighting Ultraman surrounded by drones and doing nothing about it. He does less than that, he just vanished. I kept thinking he would show up hacking the drones and turning them on Lex but instead the damn dog deals with the drones because the dog has to be in every major set piece.

#4. Hawkgirl was beyond unnecessary. Her eyes rolling back in her head and screeching was irritating.

#5. The entire resolution of the movie revolves around nerdy Jimmy Olson being a sex symbol. Worse, he is absolutely not a nice guy. He uses women and doesn't care at all about their fate after. He should be #1 but the above 4 are actually worse.

#6. The CGI was as bad as advertised. So was the close up flying scenes. I would have rather had 10 more minutes of Lois and Supes than goofy CGI battles.

So this is a movie that should have been either really bad or really good but the sum of it's parts is decent.
All me looking forward to Supergirl is absolutely quashed the 30 minutes past its prime gag continues

My wife absolutely despised your #4. I mean she looked at me every time she did and just rolled her eyes. After the movie she asked if it was necessary for Dora to do that. She said Dora because she didn't know the character or actresses name. LOL.

I almost watched War of the Rohirrim last night. Is it good?? I always have an issue with animated movies...ever since Heavy Metal 2..damn that was disappointing.

As long as you don't despise a female focused story, you should be good.

He originally auditioned for the role of Superman.
