The Dallas Cowboys are bringing former All-Pro edger rusher and Super Bowl champion Von Miller home in an effort to help their questionable pass rush.

Multiple sources confirmed that the two sides agreed to a one-year deal on Sunday night.

The Cowboys subsequently announced news of the agreement on their social media states.

And Miller himself confirmed the homecoming on his X account and via via an Instagram post.

“Hereee Weee Gooo,” Miller posted with a photoshopped image of himself in a No. 40 Cowboys uniform and a photo from high school in DeSoto, a suburb south of Dallas.

The Cowboys have been searching for pass rush help since trading Micah Parsons away to the Green Bay Packers before last season and then fielding the worst defense in the NFL in 2025.

They made a number of moves to upgrade the defense, starting with hiring of Christian Parker to take over the defense.

But getting to the quarterback remained a huge question mark.

The Cowboys tried to add Maxx Crosby via trade with the Las Vegas Raiders. They ultimately acquired Rashad Gary in a trade with the Green Bay Packers and drafted Malachi Lawrence with their second first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

The Cowboys hope 2025 second-round Donovan Ezeiruaku is ready to take a huge step in year two but the team still lacked proven production at edge rusher. Gary has never had more than 9.5 sacks in seven seasons in the NFL and racked up 7.5 in each of the past two seasons. He has sacks on the final month in 2025.

Lawrence is a work in progress.

Miller, age 37 who starred in college at Texas A&M, showed he could still get to the quarterback in 2025, registering nine sacks with the Washington Commanders.

Last season, Miller finished 19th in the NFL in sacks (9.0) and 9th in sacks per pass rush snaps played, playing just 37-percent of snaps last season for Washington.

He will likely a designated pass rusher in Dallas.

He’s the current active leader in career sacks with 138.5 and has expressed a desire to play for his hometown team for years.

The dream is finally coming true for Miller, who made eight Pro Bowls and seven All-Pro teams during his first nine seasons with the Denver Broncos. He was traded to Los Angeles Rams during the 2021 season.

He then spent three years from 2022-24 with the Buffalo Bills before last season with the Commanders.
