The Stanley Cup Finals are set. So are the IIHF World Championship semifinals, and those at least have three Boston Bruins involved.

The three Bruins in the World Championship will play each other at 2:00 PM, meaning the Bruins will have representation in the gold medal game tomorrow.

In the Stanley Cup Finals, the Hurricanes and Golden Knights will start their seven-game series on Tuesday. Carolina beat down on the Canadiens last night, ending their season convincingly and booking their ticket to the Cup Final for the first time since 2006.

Elsewhere around the league, a former Bruins assistant has a great shot at landing a minor league job not too far from Boston, a decision in Colorado looms as the team delays its end-of-season press conference, and the Stanley Cup Finals schedule is out.

And the IIHF reversed its decision on Russia.

Happy Saturday, catch up on Bruins and league news in today’s Daily Bean:

Boston Bruins

IIHF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS: Seven Bruins made it to the quarterfinals, but they played each other, and three* advanced and will play each other today.

Fraser Minten and Team Canada will take on Henri Jokiharju, Joonas Korpisalo, and the rest of Team Finland this afternoon.

Hampus Lindholm (via Instagram): Hampus Lindholm shared a heartfelt message on Instagram after the passing of his agent, Claude Lemieux.

NHL News & National Hockey Now

Carolina Hockey Now: The Hurricanes are 12-1. They’re going to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time in 20 years. They beat the Canadiens 6-1 last night, and they had six different goal scorers piece it together.

It meant a lot for Frederik Andersen, another player represented by Claude Lemieux.

Montreal Hockey Now: And for Montreal, that’s it. The Canadiens kept their lineup intact, which the Hurricanes picked apart and closed out the series. For the fifth time in the series, the Hurricanes opened scoring, and much like the last four games, the Canadiens did not have an answer. It was 4-0 through two periods. Marc Dumont has more highlights from Montreal.

PLAYOFFS

  • M1 – Hurricanes (4) vs. A3 – Canadiens (1)
  • C1 – Avalanche (0) vs. P1 – Golden Knights (4)

Forever Blueshirts: The Hartford Wolf Pack need a coach, and one who worked with the Bruins “has an excellent shot,” according to Elliotte Friedman. David Pagnotta reported that the Bruins will not renew the contract of assistant coach Jay Leach, and he has explored other opportunities. Leach coached the P-Bruins from 2017-21.

Colorado Hockey Now: The Colorado Avalanche front office will meet with the media early next week, and they have a decision to make on head coach Jared Bednar. He’s the second-longest tenured coach, only behind Jon Cooper, but the Avs disappointing end might call for a change. Aarif Deen has more.

New Jersey Hockey Now: The Devils underperformed this season, but how much of the core is really to blame? Daniel Amoia has more on Nico Hischier and Timo Meier’s season. Hischier had 66 points, his lowest since the COVID-shortened season, and Meier finished with 24 and a career-low 8.9% shot percentage.

TSN: The IIHF reversed its decision to ban Russia for the 2026-27 season. Now, they’re on an “event-by-event basis,” meaning they may be able to play in this year’s World Junior Championships.

Sportsnet: The Maple Leafs are not talking to Jay Woodcroft, per Elliotte Friedman.
