WILKES-BARRE, PA (WBRE/WYOU) — High school graduates are getting ready to head out for the next chapter in their athletic career. Before doing so though, seniors suited up for the 2nd Annual NEPA All-Star Lacrosse Game, including our 28/22 Athlete of the Week Jordan Andrews.
The NEPA All-Star Game would be the last time Andrews would suit up as a Crestwood Comet, scoring three goals and one assist. “Yeah, I mean I wanted to score a couple, make some good passes, but at the end of the day I just wanted to have fun,” said Andrews.
She said had a lot of fun participating in team celebrations while also being coached one last time by her coach Aaron Caporuscio.
“Jordan is just an amazing athlete, anytime you get to coach someone like that it’s fun cause you can put her anywhere, give her a little direction, and she just dies her thing,” said Coach Caporuscio of the senior midfielder.
That athleticism allowed her to succeed at four sports in high school including lacrosse and basketball, where the team made it to the state semifinals.
“I think it just helps a lot with my conditioning and everything just making sure I’m staying in shape, and some skills transfer over. I just find so much fun in all of the sports,” said Andrews.
When she is on the field, it seems like her energy is limitless running from sideline to sideline, a great trait to have for a midfielder. Caporuscio said, “She never wants to come off the field; it’s my job to just manage those legs because she will just keep running and running until she falls down. That’s the hardest part about coaching Jordan is keeping her fresh the whole time.”
He adds though, the trait that he will miss most of Andrews, her leadership. “Jordan is the kind of kid that every coach wants. She can do anything on the field, but she’s also great off the field”.
As for Jordan, the community support and coach dedication is something she’ll miss the most. “I’m going to miss the community so much, we have such a great support system.”
Jordan will not be going far from home as she’ll be headed to Bloomsburg University this fall. She is going to play soccer next season for the Huskies.
