They set high goals at the start of the season and usually exceed them.
That's what top programs do, year after year.
And this year was kind of an exception for Council Rock South's boys wrestling team.
"Some people thought before last season that last year might be a rebuilding year for us," said third-year head coach Trey Balasco, a 2013 graduate of the school.
"It didn't turn out to be because we had a pretty good season. And, maybe some people thought this year would kind of be a rebuild, but our guys did a great job and got better as the year went on.
"It turned out to be a really good season and the guys should be proud of the year they had."
The Golden Hawks won the team title at the PIAA District One-North Class 3A tournament and the Southeast Regional team title before placing eighth at the PIAA championships.

The super season earned Balasco the Courier Times/Intelligencer Boys Wrestling Coach of the Year honors.
"We have such a strong youth program and the coaching all the way up is really, really good," Balasco said. "We have high standards and high expectations every season and we expect to do well.
"We had to replace nearly 200 (individual) wins from last year and that's tough. I think we had eight guys in the varsity lineup for the first time this year and those guys stepped up for us."
Individually, the Golden Hawks sent six wrestlers to Hershey and three of them, senior Pat Woloshyn, junior John Segata and freshman Quinn Bagnell, came home with medals. Woloshyn and Segata both placed third while Bagnell was sixth.
"We had three guys — Pat, John and Quinn — all in the semifinals and that was really cool," Balasco said.
"That doesn't happen very often and to see them do it at the state tournament was really something."
Bagnell concurred.

"It has been great being a part of the team and the older guys do a great job leading the way," Bagnell said. "Being a part of it is a lot of fun."
Segata and Bagnell will lead the way next season, which will likely be another good one.
"I'm excited about the possibility for next year, too," Balasco said. "We have some pretty solid depth coming back and everybody is already working hard to get ready."
