A year ago, at the PIAA Class 2A tournament in Hershey, Faith Christian set a record by crowning four individual champions and winning a third-straight team title.
Gaudy stuff.
Well, this season was even gaudier.
Not only did the Lions win another team title at states, but five of their wrestlers, seniors Adam Waters, Cael Weidemoyer and Mark Effendian, junior Joey Bachmann and sophomore Freddy Bachmann, won gold medals.
Oh, and the other five Lions that qualified for Hershey? They all placed and brought home medals, too.
"It's just a credit to how hard these guys work," Faith Christian head coach Ben Clymer said.
"And it's not just during the season. These guys are wrestling year round, going to the biggest tournaments and always trying to get better."
And, by what they accomplished this season, the Lions are the Courier Times/Intelligencer Boys Wrestling Team of the Year.
"It's like a family with our team," said Waters, who won his fourth PIAA title earlier this month, becoming just the 15th wrestler in PIAA history, and the first from District One, to do so.

"Everybody helps everybody try and get better every day because we know we're helping the team by doing that. And we're all friends. It's just a great group of guys."
On a national level, the Lions finished in the top three in every major poll.
As for next season, the Lions have the aforementioned Bachmann brothers returning (Joey will be going for his fourth PIAA title), plus current junior Nick Singer (who won a PIAA title as a sophomore and placed third this year), along with current freshmen/PIAA medalists Cruz Little, Flynn Arnestad and Riley Crandall coming back.

"The younger guys are going to keep everything going," Waters said. "That's what makes this such a great program.
"Really good guys graduate and the guys on the way up just step in and take their place."
