It is no secret that Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla is a fan of mixed martial arts, even participating in them himself when time allows. But that would not necessarily lead one to believe that professional wrestling and its soap opera-like dramas might appeal to the Celtics coach.
Even so, Boston point guard Derrick White found out that his coach actually does enjoy a live wrestling match from time to time when the two went to a recent WWE event this season. Speaking on an episode of the "Run it Back" podcast earlier this week, White broke down how that night went. "I just started like watching it a little bit and I realized they were going to be in the Garden, (and) we were going to be in town, so I was like, I'm going to go," said White.
"And Joe's like, 'Oh, I'm going to go too,'" the Celtics guard continued. "And so it was it was just like a fun thing, we're just chilling."
"We were in the suite for a while, and then he's like, 'You've never been to one of these before. You've got to see it ringside'," recalled White. "So, him and his son and me and my wife went down there and they're like, 'All right, we're going to put you on TV'."
"And like he's like, 'All right, we've got to do a little something, how's it going to go?' And, so that was a lot of fun, actually. He was like, 'Next time we go out there, we're going have to get on the ring and actually have a fight or something'. So, that was a lot of fun -- it looked really well."
