Connor Curran placed fifth in the first Olympic men's aerials qualifying with a score of 117.26.

The top six athletes qualified to the first final. The first men's aerials final is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. Eastern.

Curran, 21, who attended Sharonville Elementary School and Princeton City Middle School before moving to New York, started third in the first qualification run. He's making his first Olympic appearance.

In aerials, skiers launch themselves off a ramp and into the air, performing aerial tricks before landing on a 34° to 39° slope about 30 metres long.

Curran's jump was a back full-double full-full, with a difficulty of 4.425.

The Olympic men's freeski halfpipe and aerials were rescheduled to Feb. 20 because of adverse weather conditions in the form of a snowstorm in the mountain town of Livigno, Italy.

Nick Goepper, from Lawrenceburg, Indiana, placed first in Olympic men's freeski halfpipe qualifying.

The Winter Olympics are being televised on NBC and Peacock.
