Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we are talking about Mizzou Athletics.
With a slow week of Mizzou sports, I thought it would be good to draw attention to what else is happening within Mizzou Athletics.
Mizzou Athletics and MU Health Care have launched a groundbreaking partnership aimed at elevating the medical support provided to student-athletes. With the addition, they’ve added on a new role which MU announced on Tuesday.
Mizzou Athletics, Missouri Orthopedic Institute, and @muhealth have announced a landmark collaboration. Under the new innovative structure, Dr. Tiffany Bohon will serve as Mizzou Athletics' first Chief Medical Officer.

Mizzou Athletics has named seasoned sports and family medicine physician Dr. Tiffany Bohon, a Missouri alumna and former student-athlete to the role of Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Additionally, Dr. Clayton Nuelle will assume the role of Head Team Physician for Orthopedics.
“Student-athlete health and safety is our highest priority, and this collaboration with MU Health Care represents a massive step forward in how we support our young men and women,” Mizzou AD Laird Veatch said in a news release.
We have more discussion on football and basketball, diving into prospects, visits and PFF grades in the Rock M+ forums.

Per MUTigers.com, Crowe and Bryant become the sixth and seventh McDonald’s All-Americans in program history (joining Steve Stipanovich, Derrick Chievous, Anthony Peeler, Travon Bryant, and Michael Porter Jr.). It’s the first time in program history that Mizzou has landed both in the same class.
Pretty exciting time for Mizzou Basketball fans right now. Will be exciting to see them duke it out.
This week is some needed time off. Then a road trip to South Carolina. The Gamecocks may not be the most formidable team in the league (they’re the lowest rated team in the SEC again this year), but they’re always stingy at home. Outside of getting rolled by Florida, they’re 1-4 with losses in Overtime, and by 5 points each to Georgia and LSU. The algorithm says this is a projected 1 point loss. If you can find a way to 6-4 in the league you might be back in business. Bubble wise.
Really important game coming up this weekend following a really important week off.
It’s that time of week again! On Friday, No. 7 gymnastics took on No. 2 LSU and earned its highest score of the season despite a close 0.175 loss. (Editor’s note: W/L don’t matter until Regionals; only pay attention to the scores and if they’re getting better.) Men’s basketball faced Mississippi State on Saturday in an 84-79 win dampened by guard Annor Boateng’s injury in the second half.
Amazing work from Hannah. Must check out her basketball shots at the bottom!
That’s four items listed to get to a 7-win season, and the Tigers only passed two of the four. And while Beau Pribula was not able to maintain an efficiency at quarterback that Missouri needed, the ground game and defense provided enough to get the Tigers to 8 wins. Not too shabby!
The Tigers definitely had some missing facets to their game this season, but I agree with Nate, eight wins with all the flaws isn’t too shabby.
While Grace Slaughter and Shannon Dowell collected all the highlights in the win against Mississippi State, Abbey Schreacke played a key role in the win as a tertiary scorer. She finished the game with 13 points, shooting 5-8 from the field, 3-6 from three while collecting three rebounds and dishing out three assists. Schreacke made all three of her triples in the second half, with two of them coming at the beginning of the third quarter when the rest of the Mizzou offense struggled out of the gate.
It’s exciting to see a MUWBB team that has multiple scoring options. And the Tigers are finally finding some rhythm too. I’m excited to see where Harper can take them.
Young’s latest rise would give Mizzou Football the possibility of three-straight first round NFL Draft picks under head coach Eli Drinkwitz (Armond Membou in 2025 and Darius Robinson in 2024). That hasn’t happened for the Mizzou Football program since 2009-2011.
At this point, I was so impressed with how Zion Young played at the Senior Bowl, I’d be surprised if he isn’t a first round pick.
Over at Rock M+ we have more Mizzoufootball discussion and basketball discussion with the offseason in full-motion for football, and SEC play picking up for basketball.
