Colorado loses Travis Hunter to the NFL, but they might have his replacement already lined up and ready to break out in 2025.
Drelon Miller appears to be that guy. He ran routes for Shedeur Sanders at Colorado's pro day and showed out in front of NFL scouts. Miller stepping into a more prominent role this year is not surprising after he was a revelation as a true freshman.
The 5-foot-11 wide receiver recorded 32 receptions, 277 yards and three touchdowns while also lining up in the backfield, occasionally showing his versatility. Colorado's offense this season will likely emphasize Miller's versatility.
On Monday, he leant into his Swiss Army knife role when asked where he expects to play this season.
Colorado's coaching staff appears ready to give Miller plenty of carries out of the backfield, but Miller wants the run game as a whole to improve. He can be a game-changing player for the Buffs, making teams guard him in the backfield and on the perimeter.
The sophomore receiver also wants to switch his number to No. 1, a feat notoriously difficult at a Deion Sanders-led program. Miller knows he'll have to work for the new number, but he thinks he has what it takes to earn the revered jersey.
"It'd mean a lot. Like a whole bunch, actually," said an excited Miller. "Coming out of high school, I wanted No. 1 bad, but you know with Coach Prime, you have to earn everything here. Coming here I knew Tay [LaJohntay Wester] wanted No. 1, so I'll probably just wait until next year [2025]. I've just be working trying to earn that No. 1."
Miller has a personality similar to Travis Hunter's and has star written all over him. He has the potential to be a fan favorite this year. His development will be perhaps the most prominent storyline entering fall camp and throughout the 2025 season.

"Put me anywhere on the field and I'll make something happen. Just trusting in running backs. I'm blocking for them, hopefully I get a couple of pancakes this year."
