for Jones just shifted a bit towards the Cardinals. One of my main points has been that the Chiefs had other options. It appears that Olandis Gary has signed with the Bills. This gives the Cardinals a little more leverage in the negotiations.

Jones is pretty quick, decently strong, and has pretty good (not great) hands. He also is very good at picking up the blitz.

The problem is that Jones has no balance and no vision. If someone sneezes, he falls to the turf. I sometimes wondered if somebody tied his shoelaces together.
The Seattle game was a fluke. The fact that he lost his starting job three times in his young career is no fluke.

I am not going to sit here and claim the guy is terrible.

In case any KC fans or members of the Chiefs' staff are cruising this board -
Thomas Jones was picked high because of his football skills - he has great straight ahead speed, home run ability and can run low through the hole.
He was sidetracked due to injuries and a traffic jam in front of him in Pittman and Shipp. He's a gamer who comes to play.
And lets not forget "quick twitch" while we're at it.
We're very depressed that we may have to lose a player with so much talent and potential.

I agree there's no consistent stats that say otherwise. No production except for here and there. In the NFL you have to look at a RB that can produce more than a few games a year and Jones hasn't done that. He's just not a good back at this point. If his stats are terrible then he's a terrible back right now.

Lets see 3.7 ypc and 5.7 ypr. Yes those are TERRIBLE stats so he must be a terrible back! Oh hold on lets see what other backs were around 3.7 last year....hmmm. Stephen Davis, Jerome Bettis, TJ Duckett, Duce Staley....yes he must suck! Only thing is they had 200 300+ carries and he had 138.
Jones was in the to 10 in the league before he got hurt...oh yes but he sucks, Jones out-perfomed Pittman the year before Pittman was the starting tailback for the Superbowl champions...oh yes but Jones sucks.
There you go he sucks.

But the one thing is: the more he played, the more his average dropped. That one game (Seattle) inflated his average for the entire season (and by the way 5.7 per reception does suck).
Jones is a huge flop, and imo doesn't have what it takes to be a good NFL back. He lacks run vision and natural instincts, which are crucial to being a great NFL back.

Yes and he got hurt in the 2nd game so the fact that he played 7 more injured and still has a 3.7 ypc.

Why not? What has he done to prove he's any good? Don't give me the "he was a top-5 pick" baloney, either. Plenty of top-5 picks have busted.

Yes Jones could be a bust just like Garrison Hearst. If we eliminate every guy who plays or has played for Airizona and does not like all the losing we could not put a team on the field. Let us face the fact that we have been one of the armpits of the NFL so if a guy does like it here he is suspect. It is going to take some years to change this image.

This is my first time posting on a board, but here goes my take on TJ. After the first two weeks of the season everyone who posted on this board were tickled pink over TJ's production but what everyone seems to forget is that he suffered a high ankle sprain at the end of that game and he was never the same after that. I blame that on the coaching staff for not having him sit out until he was somewhat recovered. He was never able to practice but they expected him to be able to perform on sunday's. Unlike the Rams who when Marshall Faulk suffered the same injury gave him time to heal by sitting him out several games. So i guess what I'm saying is that I'm convinced that TJ, if he remains healthy, is a very good RB and is better than anyone currently on the roster, including Shipp.
