Granted that David Boston went off the rails, but the increased muscle certainly helped Fitzgerald. He got stronger and his yards after catch got much better. It also might have helped him have one of the most injury-free careers of any wide receiver. Let's hope MHJ follows the Fitzgerald path and not the Boston path.

I think Marvin was just thinking too much and that's understandable considering how the high expectations that were placed on him.

He'll be a great player for the Cardinals long term.
Agreed. And he doesn't need to be a burner. Neither Fitz nor Boldin were burners and they were great.
Harrison Jr needs to just go out and play. And the OC needs to focus on getting him the ball. He can't produce if not given the opportunity.
The Giants force fed the ball to Nabers most of the year. I went back and looked and Nabers never had a game with less than 8 targets (highest was 18).

I feel like it is way too early in the off season to be talking about how much muscle he's gained. The season just ended a couple months ago.

David was a coker, nothing else was a factor.

Is this really based in any form of reality? Fitz went from 13.4 YPR to 13.7 the next two years in a row a nominal improvement at most. Then had several season in his prime where he averaged 11-12 YPR. A couple sprinkled in at the 14 YPR. But saying it got MUCH BETTER. Seems like an exaggeration.

YPR and YAC are not the same thing. Depth of reception can influence that. But Larrys YAC did improve quite a bit...which caused the coach to get him the ball on shorter routes.

Wish we had a WR more scary than Michael Wilson to keep teams from rotating safeties to MHJ's side.

McBride is proof that K1 can get a guy the ball, but without a true W2 to keep defenses honest, and potentially shaky pass protection again in 2025, I'm not sure sure we're going to see the break out season from MHJ that were all hoping for.

But if he can just go from 62 receptions in 2024 to say, 90, I think that will go a long way towards earning a playoff birth.

Marvin Harrison Jr.
Arizona Cardinals · WR
Harrison's rookie production certainly wasn't horrible, but considering the massive expectations surrounding him coming into the NFL, he fell short of the hype. He registered 62 catches for 885 yards and eight touchdowns, exceeding 90 receiving yards in just three games while being held to fewer than 40 seven times. The offense struggled with consistency in 2024, and the chemistry between Kyler Murray and his No. 1 receiver was not where it needed to be, something they are trying to improve this offseason. Head coach Jonathan Gannon has praised Harrison's mentality heading into Year 2, saying:

"He came up to me -- I normally meet with guys about their developmental plan when we're done with the year -- when I had my meeting with him, he came up to me and he handed me a piece of paper," Gannon said. "It wasn't me handing him a piece of paper. But we knew that. The guy's a ready-made pro. He does all the right things. He was here the whole offseason. He skipped out one week, he went and trained with a bunch of different receivers, but he was here the whole offseason. I think he added a little bit of muscle mass. He looks a little bit bigger. All his numbers, his metrics are all better than when we got him."

With a full NFL season and offseason now under Harrison's belt, it certainly feels like we will see a different version of the 2024 fourth overall pick this fall

I'm pretty sure safeties weren't rotating to MHJ the last month of the season, it looked like he was being left on an island with the CB2. One of the reasons the offense fell off later in the year is teams realized they didn't need to put resources into containing him. Before we worry about Michael Wilson we have to hope Marv develops enough to actually draw safety attention, hell even just the attention of a teams CB1.

Part of this is related to McBride coming of age and less about MHJ.

To be fair, MOST NFL WR's look like that with no shirt on. These cats carry negative 50% body fat and are elite athletes. Now the DK's and AJ Browns of the world? That's a different story.

I am curious what games you are citing here and did you actually reference all 22 to see? Or is this a vibes take? Either is fine, but I am curious so I can determine if I also want to check this out.
