The Chargers have completed an interview with Jim Leonhard for their vacant defensive coordinator position, the team announced.
Leonhard currently serves as assistant head coach and defensive passing game coordinator for the Broncos.
Leonhard was a standout safety for Wisconsin, where he became a three-time First-team All-American and tied the school record with 21 interceptions. After joining the Bills as an undrafted free agent in 2005, he played for several teams, including the Ravens, Jets, Broncos, Saints, and Browns, retiring after the 2014 season.
Leonhard began coaching at his alma mater in 2016, quickly rising to defensive coordinator in 2017. He had a brief stint as the Badgers' interim head coach in 2022 and a senior analyst role at Illinois in 2023. He then joined the NFL ranks with Denver in 2024.
