Fan favorite and future HOF Calais Campbell is going back to the Ravens. I wanted him back here to put the finishing touches on his career in Cardinal Red. Believe he still showed plenty of value along the DL. Wonder if the Cards had any interest?

Will he go to the HOF as a Cardinal though?

Yeah, I saw the other day that we declined to make him an offer, which surprised me.

I thought he was pretty good.
I heard Monti say that they were in touch with CC and were respectfully allowing CC to decide on what he wanted to do.
Didn't see where the Cards declined to make him an offer.

That was what I read too. Sounded like Monti wanted to let see if he could chase a ring first. I am rooting for him to get one this year.

Nobody should be surprised by this. Why would he want to play his last season on what everyone is calling the worst team in the league with a new coaching staff?

He was always one of my favorite Cardinals and they never should have let him go the first time. However, and this won't be popular here, he's a guy hitting 40, is at best a part time player and it certainly appears that the team is moving to a younger rotation on the Dline and although his experience may be missed his absence will allow younger players to develop quicker with more snaps.

He came here last year, likely because, he bought the hype that we were going to be good. A great ending to his career where it began. That didn't happen.

CC deserves to retire after a winning season. That won't happen here. Thanks for trying to help this pitiful franchise, Calais. Good luck.

CC comments on why he went to the Ravens:

"I felt that. I believe that this team has all the tools to win. . . . Where can I go where I can make plays and win games? Baltimore made the most sense when it came down to that."

I'm waiting for CC's hour-long HOF Induction Speech. Maybe Shaq will introduce him to the audience.

I remember arguing with someone on here about how great of a pick CC was at the time. I got told repeatedly that he was too tall to be good. Ive got plenty of player evaluations wrong as a fan, but definitely got this one right.

You have a good memory. I can remember going to a party with my father and leaving with my mother. She also argued about it, briefly.

You called it right. I didn't bash him as too tall, I don't think, although IIRC I didn't care for the pick. That's so long ago, though, I couldn't say for sure. If I didn't then I was happy to be wrong!
