Wingard is known for playing the run. Is there a Baker message here. DTD is the only potential starter who is considered average or better against the pass. I still think DTD starts.

The Cardinals are signing S Andrew Wingard to a 1-year, $3M contract, per
@JFowlerESPN

Among safeties since 2022:
- 69.0 passer rating allowed (10th)
- 87.4 run defense grade (13th)

I say that passer rating is probably being a bit generous to Wingard. He's average in coverage, but he is a very good run defender.

My Jags fan friend sent me this when I asked if he was any good: "He's a hard worker and a good locker room guy, but he's average at best. The drive is there, but not the talent."

If he's signed as a backup, I like it. If he's signed as a starter, then stupid Monti strikes again.
