The Arizona Cardinals have added a player to replace departed safety Jalen Thompson. According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, former Jacksonville Jaguars safety Andrew Wingard is signing with the Cardinals one a one-year contract.
The deal is reported worth $3 million and up to $4 million.
Wingard started 16 games for the Jaguars last season. He played 961 defensive snaps and had 84 total tackles, three tackles for loss, a quarterback hit, an interception and nine pass breakups.
He also played 88 snaps on special teams.
He played the last seven seasons for the Jags. Four times, he has logged more than 230 special teams snaps. Twice he has started at least 15 games and played more than 900 defensive snaps.
He is 6-0 and 200 pounds.
With Jalen Thompson departing, Budda Baker and Dadrion Taylor-Demerson are slated to be the two starters, but Wingard certainly could end up in the No. 2 role.
