Guards like Hernandez are a dime a dozen. If he had any real value on the open market, he'd be gone.

Apologists in December: it’s the OLs fault they all suck. Have to build in the trenches.

Apologists in March: continuity is key we have to keep this group together.

It is really difficult to understand it.

Apparently it is difficult.

Hernandez and Beachum weren't the problem. Hernandez ranked 8th in pass pro for all Guards last year.

The problem was the depth guys in Price and whoever we had to throw in at left guard and right guard for the 5 or so games Hernandez was out.

The Cardinals were also among the league leaders for AGL (adjusted games lost) for the OL, and top five for all positions in the NFL.

So the OL was good for the first handful of games before injuries set in? That’s why the offense was a well-oiled machine?

Considering his, salary and the way he played last season despite having next to him a struggling Hudson, the other atrocious center and Beachum he did fine
Personally i would sign Orlando Brown and then draft Schmidt or wypler
Pugh comment about Jones probably means they are going to give him a look at left guard

Humphries Jones Schmidt Hernandez Brown

Outside of a bad game 1 vs the Chiefs that we can put down to bad preparation it was.

15.4% pressure rate in game 2.
9.7% pressure rate in game 3.
8.3% pressure rate in game 4.

Two of the three lowest pressure rates came in weeks 3 and 4. Then Hudson went down.

Through those 5 games Kyler took 7 sacks. Through the next 5 he took 14 and his pressure rate increased significantly. Especially after Pugh went down too in game 6.

Kyler didn't miss Hernandez so much because he was out most of that time.

Funny. We've been talking exclusively about pass pro and protecting Kyler and when you don't like the numbers you pull out run blocking.

If anything the run blocking got better with the replacements, but then this line was never really built around run blocking.

We had the highest QB hurried rate in the league those games… this has been posted before. You have to be kidding me on thinking this Oline wasn’t anything but awful

Last I checked an oline is tasked with both run and pass blocking.

Just a guess but with Jones at LG I’m guessing the thinking is get a line signed affordably, then work on approving it.

Oddly players often are better on one side of the line. I’m guessing his play at LT will convince them to try him at LG.
I was thinking the same thing Harry. He's a better LT than RT so it makes sense that he prefers one side to the other.

It's probably more natural coming out of the stance to the left. Usually guys who struggle on one side is more because of footwork and timing....they just never get comfortable.
