Cardinals GM: If Larry Fitzgerald is ready to play, ‘we’ll have a spot for him’

The Arizona Cardinals’ second-round selection of Purdue’s Rondale Moore certainly gives the team more depth in the wide receiver room, but where does that leave Larry Fitzgerald?

While Fitzgerald’s future is still up in the air following the NFL Draft, general manager Steve Keim isn’t pressing the pass catcher to make a decision sooner rather than later.

“He’s told me he likes the moves in the offseason and he’s excited, but he hasn’t told me his plans,” Keim told Sirius XM Mad Dog Radio’s Adam Schein on Tuesday. “I think with a guy like him, who I think has earned this right, a lot of times guys like that see how their body feels. They want to feel the motivation to go back out for another long, grueling season.

“Leave it up to him. I think he’s earned that right and if he tells us at some point that he’s ready to go, we’ll have a spot for him.”

I don't care where Larry plays as long as it is that he is on the team and that he isn't getting paid much more than the veterans minimum.

It may come down to is Fitz willing to play for the amount the Cardinals are willing to offer. If not then his retirement is announced.

I think it would be great to see Fitzgerald as a 3rd down specialist!

I like it. Larry still has value on the field (especially in the redzone).
I don't think anyone will argue that he shouldn't be getting paid what he was last year but for people to say he has nothing left in the tank is garbage. His stats are strictly a product of his usage (or lack thereof).
To be honest he had just 1td catch last season, and in the last seasons has never been a real red zone weapon at all

The Cards aren’t going to stretch their cap space for Fitz. The whole dilemma on his part is, does he want to play at a reduced salary.

Fitz is better than Andy, and much better than KeeSean. And spotting the oft injured Kirk and probably oft injured Moore is an important role on our team.

Hell to the no Indy, KeeSean is better than Fitz right now if you consider playing the whole field of routes since the kid can still run and Andy is freaking worthless as a NFL player. KeeSean got drafted late and has the uphill battle of getting in the lineup but Isabella was given his chances and sucks. I do hope though that people do not judge Moore by the Isabella fiasco since they are two totally different animals. If Moore does not succeed, that will be an indictment of the coaching staff... Fitz still has value though with his amazing hands and experience, being a sweet luxury of the receiver group if he's on the vet minimum salary :raccoon:

i would love to see Larry back. Agree with most, he should be at a very reduced salary. He is good in the red zone and has become an excellent blocker. I would see him splitting time with Kirk for the 4th receiver and play more if any of the others have injuries. That happens all the time. His leadership and work habits are a major plus for his teammates.
