Kyler sucks? His passer rating today was 108.8

He's inaccurate? He completed 72.4% of his passes today.

Are you like, being obtuse on purpose? Trying to stir the pot or something?

And all of that behind some pretty terrible pass protection today Britcard. It was not good.

K1 was not spectacular today, but he didn't "suck". That's just crazy man.

Kyler had an awesome pass to MHJ on the 49 yard and a couple good touchdown passes. But he definitely panicked too much. And on many plays, he literally had plenty of time to throw. I don’t know what the heck you guys were talking about. There were multiple multiple plays where he’s sitting back there dancing looking and wouldn’t pull the trigger. I don’t know if you can do that and say you had terrible protection the whole game. Makes no sense. Some good some bad. So about the norm. In back to back plays he literally had McBride wide open and flat missed him on both killing a drive.

And that pass to Marvin showed he can still throw a pretty deep ball, he dropped it down field perfectly

Y'all deluded that think Kyler had a "good game".

Penix has thrown for 300 yards against the Bucs. Fields through for 230 vs the Steelers. Danny Dimes threw 272.

Kyler threw 163 against one of the worst teams in the league and 45 of them was is single good pass.
Penix and Fields lost...and that's the most important stat.

He had a few clean pockets today, true.

Look, I'm not going to argue it to death Shane, but there were maybe 30 pass plays called today.

I bet if we went back and watched the tape we would conclude the pocket broke down too quickly on probably 2/3s of them. And there were like two or three plays with free runners (like right off the edge too, not a DB blitzing from 15 yards away).

I guess I could be wrong, and I'll try to watch the game again later to verify.

Is that going to be the new narrative now?

Just trying to keep up with how much it changes when people are proven wrong.
I don't know what you're talking about. He can get the ball down the field...he did it today. I just think he doesn't have the confidence in passes being caught in traffic and jump balls. Too much second guessing going on in his noggin, IMO.

I mean, you gotta have the 49 yard bomb to MHJ and his touchdown pass on the list as well
The bomb was nice, as we’ve not seen Kyler drop one of those in for some time. Didn’t love that MHJ didn’t have any separation, but impressed he came up with it. The issue is, that’s one play. The rest of Kyler’s game was just more meh. That play just made it slightly less meh. And the TD catch was a pretty routine nfl play. Was it a good play? Yes. Was I stoked we scored a TD? Yes. Is it a play, in and of itself - other than being a TD - that’s “awesome” or “impressive” or “exciting?” Not really.

Happy (relieved) that we won. But this was the most meh w I could imagine. And just seems like more of the meh we saw last season. I mean this was the saints with Spencer rattler at Qb.

Was the deep pass to Harrison on a blitz?

The miss to Harrison on the 2 yard line you could tell he hated and it was his fault.

I just know how many catches Mcbride had off a blitz.
The deep pass to Harrison was a blitz. But the offensive line completely picked it up. Kyler had plenty of time to throw and he used it. That’s not the traditional definition of “burning the blitz” which is typically used when a QB identifies the blitz, knows which receiver will end up being open and throws immediately to that guy, thereby burning the blitz. Harrison was covered. He wasn’t the burn the blitz hot read.

Looking at some of Kyler’s passes to McBride, there were a mix of blitz and no blitz. On one of the plays that was a blitz it again wasn’t a scenario where Kyler read and burnt the blitz. He started to run forward, buying time and threw to McBride. Again, McBride wasn’t the hot read that was open due to the blitz.

So I stand by my comment: Kyler didn’t read and burn the blitz. He made some plays when a blitz was on, but it wasn’t because he made a great blitz read and burnt it.

I’ll take any win on the road. Especially with all of the unknowns of week 1. Was it pretty? No.

My biggest concern after this game is with the right side of the offensive line. Hopefully Hernandez can get healthy and back into game shape fairly soon.

he is great if he is throwing the ball less than 10 yards. he had the one deep pass to Harrison that we have all been waiting for but he also missed a wide open Harrison on the pass from the end zone.

Should the league be worried about Burrow? 113 yards 1 TD and a W were his final stats today.
He’s apparently historically terrible to start the season. 1-9 before today in the first two games of the season. But shockingly he gets better as a season progresses. He’s like the anti-Kyler except there’s no part of the season where Kyler is ever at Joe’s best level.

I’d bet against that 2/3rds. He was sitting back there with plenty of time multiple plays where he just wasn’t diagnosing the play fast enough.
