I like the move in context of the current OL situation. Ford has some ability, he's not a UDFA scrub and he has untapped potential.
Agreed. Now that we have info regarding our starting LG having to see a specialist and our starting C still being out, the move is fine. We will see on the "untapped potential" but he does have physical talent and maybe Kugler can do something with that. Similar situation as Will Hernandez IMO.

Some OL just can't be moved around without big problems.

And the quality of teammates around them is underrated. Hernandez probably hasn't played with a RT as good or as savvy as Beachum.

I thought Hudson practiced this week? Or am I making that up in my head?

Well, giving up a 5th for a rental player isn't "fine," but getting a player in is at least understandable.

If you know your season is dependent on your offense being highly effective and the line is the second most critical piece to that, it's fine trying to hedge a bit. We got a guy with starting experience, familiarity (a bit) in the offense, and the price is the price. Not going to sweat it.

It's less that than it is a frustrating situation of, "Well, here we go again, Keim having to fix his own mistakes by tossing draft capital at a hole."

And,... very importantly imho.... bringing in hernandez and ford, means they can finally stop trying to shoehorn Jones into a guard spot and just let the guy focus on developing as an nfl tackle.

Assuming of course, both those guys work out...

##Ducks##

Also notable... both Ford and Hernandez are big brawler types with mass and pile moving skills... could indicate more power run game.

They also cut Punter from last year Haack because of Matt Araiza. My guess is we're not going to move on from Andy Lee and if we did, Haack wouldn't be the guy, but we are starting to see some guys with NFL experience. Will be interesting to see what kind of kickers get cut I'm sure not convinced right now Prater can be trusted.

yeah I saw that if true what a horrible thing. His agent is calling it a cash grab because he made the Bills but it's not like punters get paid huge money as rookies so I'm skeptical it's that simple.

I doubt it's a cash grab, but Ariaza's salary of $705,000, while not QB money, could still give someone a life changing payout.

40% in taxes to state and federal, but 10% to his agent and he's got to live in NY state. $350k isn't what it use to be.

My brothe in laws brother played 3 seasons for the Jets a few years back at a 6th round pick and had to live with 3 roommates during the season and lived with his parents in the off season. These late round picks don't really have money. Thanks Marko wad able to make some CFL money too. He's a personal trainer now.

These late round picks aren't set for life, but the median salary for full time workers is 42K. NFL minimum for rookies this year is $705K.

While I doubt its a cash grab, I do think that even a low 6 figure settlement is huge money for most people, especially someone fresh out of college.
