Cardinal Newman graduate Shane Drohan made his Major League Baseball debut on Wednesday, April 8 against the Boston Red Sox at historic Fenway Park.
Drohan, 27, drew the start for the Milwaukee Brewers and lasted 2.2 innings, allowing three earned runs on three hits and four walks.
A member of Cardinal Newman's class of 2017, Drohan was called up by the Brewers' Triple-A affiliate, the Nashville Sounds, after Jared Koenig was sent to the 15-day IL after suffering from a sprained UCL, as reported by MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy.
The lefty hurler was drafted in the fifth round of the 2020 MLB amateur draft by the Boston Red Sox ― the very same team he took the mount against on Wednesday after spending five years in the farm system.

Drohan settled in quickly in Wednesday's matinee, working through a scoreless first inning (allowing a walk to Andruw Monasterio), before striking out back-to-back hitters in the back-half of the second inning.
Drohan's first strikeout came when he induced a swing by Caleb Durbin on a cutter, and though he followed that up by painting the corner on a would-be strike three changeup against Carlos Narváez, Drogan would tally the 'K' anyway on a fastball the Red sox catcher couldn't lock onto.
Trouble struck in the third inning when Drohan allowed back-to-back baserunners, setting up a bases-loaded, one-out situation. Some control issues led to a few near-misses around the strike zone and Drohan ultimately walked in a run and allowed an RBI single on a tough-luck ground ball.
Damage was amplified by a few calls around the zone not falling Drohan's way, with home plate umpire Brennan Miller tightening up the zone. Brewers catcher Gary Sánchez lost his lone challenge initiated with Drohan on the mound.
Trevor Story would add a sacrifice fly before a fourth walk would chase Drohan from the game. He threw 63 pitches, but just 28 went for strikes. His final stat line would reflect three hits, three runs allowed, and four walks in 2 2/3 innings.
Shane Drohan wasn't the only Palm Beach County product to take the field tonight, as fellow Cardinal Newman prospect Roman Anthony hit leadoff for the Red Sox in today's game.
Anthony, who also starred for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic grounded out in the Red Sox's first at-bat of the game.
Though Drohan would struggles with control against the Red Sox's heart of the lineup he induced another groundout from Anthony in the bottom half of the third inning.
Anthony would then walk and tally his first steal of the season in the bottom of the fourth inning.
