I was a junior in high school. I was so upset after the game, I got in my car and drove about 2 hours away from home. Next morning, I told mom I was sick and didn't go to school. Fun story to tell them years later, about the real reason I didn't go to school that day.

I was at the game. It was a rainy, cold day in DC. My boss didn’t want to go to the game, so I took her 7 year old son. I bought him a Cardinal pennant even though he was supposedly a Redskin fan lol. The officiating was horrible, but especially bad late in the game with the game in the balance. I was at the height of my powerlifting days, and if not for the 7 year old with me, I was prepared to hurt people lol. Still one of the most painful losses for me in Cardinal history.

A sad day for me when they left St. Louis. I was 6 years old sitting with my Dad watching the Cardinals beat the Yankees in the 1964 World Series. An ad came on alerting to an upcoming football Cardinals game vs the Bears that Sunday. I was shocked to know that there was a St. Louis Cardinals team in both sports. And that Sunday I remember watching the Cardinals in football & have been a fan ever since. But, my preference would be that they never left St. Louis.

Well, PAC, that was my preference, also. I would have liked an expansion team. Or, at least a change in the Cards name. But, that didn't happen and the Cards are my team.
For me, as long as the name and Cardinal logo remain, I would root for that team until they put me in the ground. If they ever decide to change the nickname, my fandom ends there.

I remember that game costing me hours of sleep I was so angry. In OT Morey gets a huge pass play that I thought was a game winner, but he gets chased down inside the 49ers 25. We get inside the 10 yard line and attempt a FG and Rackers nails it. Game over? No, delay of game and Rackers shanks the next attempt. The Cards defense holds but a great punt pins the Cards near their own goal line and a strip sack on Warner ends it. The life of a Cardinal fans is filled with games like these.
