The Kansas City Royals lack of consistency and firepower on offense has certainly been concerning early in the 2025 campaign.

Sure, there have been recent positive developments like first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino's sudden power surge (3 home runs over the past seven days), but overall, this lineup has not produced outside of superstar shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. and third baseman Maikel Garcia.

As of May 5, the Royals rank 21st in the MLB in cumulative batting average at .237, 24th in slugging at .360 and 25th in OPS at .657.

That concerning development led to some mild "panic" from Bleacher Report baseball writer Kerry Miller.

"We marveled last year at the Royals making the playoffs despite Witt ending up with more fWAR than the rest of his bat-wielding teammates combined," Miller began. "But with the catching tandem of Sal Perez and Freddy Fermin starting slow while Michael Massey and Vinnie Pasquantino have both taken huge steps backward, KC's offense has become even more of a one-man show than it was in 2024."

Miller didn't stop there.

"[The Royals'] 'big' offseason move—trading Brady Singer for Jonathan India and Joey Wiemer—has yet to result in a single home run," the MLB writer continued. "The only player who is looking better than last year is Maikel Garcia, and even he has already been caught stealing five times after going 37-for-39 in 2024."

This led Miller to strongly encourage Kansas City to "trade for a bat ASAP."

If they don't, the Bleacher Report writer hinted that he believes the Royals will very quickly turn into sellers before the deadline.
