One of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' biggest questions entering training camp may have already been answered. According to FOX 13's Mark Skol Jr., running back Bucky Irving is expected to be a full participant when the Buccaneers report for training camp after spending the offseason recovering from shoulder surgery. The update is another encouraging sign for Tampa Bay, which is counting on Irving to remain a focal point of its offense in 2026.

Irving underwent surgery after battling through multiple injuries last season, including shoulder and knee issues. Despite missing time and rarely playing at full strength, he continued to flash the explosiveness and vision that made him one of the league's most exciting young running backs. Having him healthy from the start of training camp is significant for several reasons.

Not only will Irving be able to continue building confidence and learning a new offense, but he'll also have the opportunity to work alongside newcomer Kenneth Gainwell and Sean Tucker as the Buccaneers have bolstered backfield rotation. A healthy Irving also gives the Buccaneers a chance to improve in areas that held the offense back at times in 2025. His ability to create yards after contact, make defenders miss in space, and turn routine carries into explosive gains adds a dynamic element that few backs around the league possess.

With training camp just around the corner, Tampa Bay can now prepare with the expectation that one of its top offensive playmakers will be available from the outset rather than working his way back during camp.

While the Buccaneers will undoubtedly manage Irving's workload throughout practices, having him back on the field is a positive development for an offense looking to build momentum heading into the regular season. If Irving returns at full strength, Tampa Bay's running game could once again become one of the offense's biggest strengths in 2026.
