I was very interested in hearing Theisman and the rest of the ESPN announcing crew allude to Arizona as a possible destination for the screwed over veteran , free agent to be Mark Brunell, next year. The Cards should be so lucky or intelligent. Hall of Fame classy act with a few miles left in his carcass. Damn good mentor for some future QB. Everything Blake is not. Do it. Get it done.

Also Mark Bulger from the Rams is a RFA and the higest tender the Rams can give him is 1.9 m. That would cost us a #1 but is it worth it ? Can we be that creative with this years UFA and RFA's.

Don't know about Bulger

but Brunell, imho, is exchanging one ageing vet for another. One might possess better mentoring skills or examples than the other but? I don't know if that's a solution or an addition to our problems at the position. Who did they allude to as a possible coach?

I agree with one aging vet for another, and that is my point. I think Brunell still has wins in him and can show the new QB what it takes. Blake can show the new QB what not to do. I also don't believe in negative teaching aids. If the Cards are fortunate enough to get Manning or whoever, I would hope they don't do to him what Jax did to Leftwich. That is running scared. I didn't hear any mention of their suggestions for a coaching replacement, but my hope is for an offensive minded candidate.

No sense in replacing blake for brunell, youd lose more money for not much more experience.

If we get Bulger then trade the #1 pick and go down. Bulger will be a great QB for the next 8 years. No sense in drafting one.

Id rather go the Bulger route but we wont.

Even better would be to grab Feeley.

I don't understand the " not much more experience reference.

I think Brunell would be an upgrade to Blake. We draft Manning and let Brunell and Manning share time during the year and then let Manning go full time in his second year.

You cant keep cutting players that have money due them. You still have to pay them.

Unless you can get Brunell very cheap I cant see it would be worth it.

Not true. If a player is cut, he doesn't get paid his salary. NFL contracts are not guaranteed. And only the pro-rated portion of the signing bonus would caount agaisnt the cap.

Thanks for saying it. NO GUARANTEED contracts. Disposable. Throw aways. No deposit, no return. Bye Bye Jeff.

Oh please God no on Bulger and Brunell!!!

Bulger is a QB with a weak arm, not much mobility and can only see half the field. He is a product of the system in StLouie. He has 2 HOF WRs and a HOF RB that help him succeed. He is not a difference maker. He makes erratic desicions in crunch time.

Brunell is aging. His arm is like a noodle too at this point in his career.

Just stop already with the freaking re-treads.

Do anything it takes to pick Manning. He is not a "lock" some would say, but he is the closest thing next year. He could be the "man" for a decade.

jkf how about Feeley?

He made the eagles offense look like they actuallyhade wideouts and not card board cutouts. I believe he is a better overall passer than McNabb.

He may be intriguing, but do you think he can be a gunner for us for 10 years?

Manning is enticing because of naturally his genes, but the kid is a performer. I really like the idea that many of here have discussed that he will be able to have several QB "coaches" at his disposal - Cards QB coach next year, his father Archie, and Peyotn - who breaks down film like no other in the league. It is just simply a very likey formula for success.

Bulger is not leaving St Louis... You can bank on that.... Warner is leaving after this year... The Rams then have no one else... Bulger is their man.....I don't see any QB coming here is an upgrade unless we have the right coaching staff and surroundings here... Brunnel I think is intriguing, but what would we have to give up for him.... I think he would come here for a cheaper price to get the chance to start again...

Brunell is 33, 3 months older than Blake was off to a nice start when he got hurt and they went to Leftwich. That's the problem with Brunell he does get hurt a lot, right now he's out with a bad elbow.

If he's willing to sign and compete with Blake I think it's a reasonable move, you'd have one available to trade if someone needs a veteran QB, and you could groom a young guy behind them both sort of how Minnesota did Culpepper one year.

I've always liked Brunell but his injury history is a concern at his age.

I'm willing to bet

if Parsons gets a shot with the starters, he's a shoe in. We've seen McCown, who I like, and he's not even close to ready. I think P.P. is a different type of gamer and will make a difference.

Brunell would not be interested in that. Heck, that's why he wants out of Jax!

I disagree Russ

why have two ageing vets going for it? Let a vet and someone who's been here, knows the system, but hasn't had a chance yet, compete.

Because at least for now the Cards have shown no confidence in either McCown or Parsons.

If we really like either one of them obviously that's different, I'm just not convinced we do.

If we sign Brunell and cut Blake, you can be pretty sure he's going to be injured at some point, which means the #2 QB position is very important if Brunell is the starter. I'd rather not throw in a rookie right away , Manning I'd be more comfortable with early on because of his experience but even he i'd like to not force him into playing a lot early.

I guess I'm alone in thinking with a better coaching staff and a good draft and FA, we could win games next year with either Blake or Brunell as the QB? Not saying either is a long term but if we can win games with them I'd rather do what cincy is doing grooming Palmer while winning, than do what Jax is doing where they basically HAD to play Leftwich.

I'd be inclined to stick with Blake I think he's more durable. But if we draft Manning, I think durability will go out the window, if we're not winning, by week 6 Eli is going to be the QB.

I agree

if we're in trouble and we have Manning we'll play. I don't agree about Parsons. I don't think anyone knows how they feel about him. That's why I think he should have a shot now. We know how they feel about McCown. Blake is here TO groom, just not who we thought. I think we should find out. Put some "Smoke On The Water".

I'm thinking Brunell is a free agent. Free to sign. Give him Blake's money and more. Card's are under cap. Draft his short term backup. Brunell has stated, he wants to start, not back up. He's got 2-3 years left. Should be a priority for Graves this year.
