I don't know why that made me laugh. I don't even disagree but somehow that statement just sounds funny. Carr is from Bakersfield so I feel compelled to root for the guy but he may be damaged goods in a literal sense. Perhaps the time off from starting did him some good but he might just be ruined from being a 1/1, sacked more than anyone and not living up to the expectations.
As a backup, maybe he's fine but Leinart still hasn't proven to be durable so Carr, I think, would be a big gamble. Is it telling that Spagnuolo didn't go after him as insurance for the Rams, opting instead for Kyle Boller? Or is that just an indictment against Spagnuolo's ability to judge QB's?
Carr is pretty healthy and did complete 68% of his passes one year so I haven't completely given up on him but he's a long shot at this point. Any QB that actually chooses to be a backup has to be looked at with a critical eye. For my money, you never want a QB who is okay with being the backup.
