They also have a line out to the Seahawks DC .... better Bowles than Quinn, IMO ;)

Also heard they were looking to interview Denver's OC as well

They seem to be going heavy on the young coordinator route - maybe because that job could be viewed as toxic from an ownership standpoint for anyone else

This makes zero sense unless they just want to make Horton mad. Could also be the Rooney rule and they did not want to make Horton feel like a puppet. I heard their number 1 choice is Josh McDaniels.

Also, I wonder if Bowles will actaully interview if he is in fact being picky about any HC job he takes.

Unless the Browns owner is brilliant and thinks putting Horton and Bowles on the same staff will not only product the best defense ever, but will also create work peace and end world hunger all while finding the answer to the age old question, what came first, the chicked or the egg?

OK, I got nothing, but the Browns are a disaster.

Lol: Josh McDaniels? The Browns are going to suck forever. If I were GM, I'd put all of my eggs into the David Shaw basket.

The Cleveland Browns are hoping to interview Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels soon, according to a report from NFL Network.

It would appear McDaniels is near the top of Cleveland's wish list, as the report states the Browns are "pushing" to interview him.

McDaniels does have a friendship with Browns general manager Mike Lombardi, which is one reason McDaniels and the Browns would be linked.

I really think Bowles is a Rooney Rule interview and I really hope he declines.

Probably a "Rooney Rule" but he might go just to get some interview experience for his portfolio. I imagine the Browns will follow the trend and hire an offensive minded head coach, draft a QB and build from there.

Yup, he aint hot enough right now and neither are defensive HCs. It's still good to pad the resume for a later day.

With Lovie Smith, Leslie Frazier, Ray Horton & Todd Bowles out there, I dont think he would be a "Rooney Rule Only" candidate. IMO he will get interviews, then be turned down in the face of more qualified candidates.

Tons of interviews scheduled.

Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora
In addition to Josh McDaniels (NE), Dan Quinn (SEA), and Adam Gase (DEN), Browns asked for permission to interview Todd Bowles (AZ)

They cannot interview Lovie or Horton unless you are serious about hiring them. Frazier was a disaster, so that leaves Bowles as the only Rooney candidate who can be interviewed, but bypassed for one reason or another.

Tons of interviews scheduled.

And Bowles is the only minority.

Plus it also appears Lovie in locked in in Tampa.

Numerous Bucs and league sources have pointed to former Bears head coach Lovie Smith, a onetime Tampa Bay assistant, as a frontrunner to land the Buccaneers head coaching job, with former Bucs exec Rich McKay returning to the team as a team president.

After what the Browns just did to Chud, who the hell would want to work for them?

The Browns players are pissed. If I were Norv Turner or Ray Horton, I'd be pissed too. They are probably both one and done also.

I agree with everything but Horton. I think they will force him on the next HC, not that he would need to be forced. An offensive minded HC would and should love to inherit him.

If Bowles leaves they can just promote Mike Caldwell and the D would never miss a beat.

Albert Breer tweet: Todd is considering what to do.

Albert Breer@AlbertBreer12h
... What I can tell you is that Browns and Vikings have received permission to talk to Bowles, and Bowles is mulling what to do next.
