What evidence is there to base that on given Rallis performance last year? Definitely seems like he lost the team in the second half.
I think there’s reason to believe Gannon took a heavier hand in the defensive scheme late in the year in an effort to staunch the bleeding.

Also, the injury to Mack Wilson was (apparently) impossible to overcome. Wilson will be back.

Finally, I just expect some positive regression. We went from 15th in scoring defense to 29th while adding a bunch of personnel. We’re unlikely to get worse.

Via ChatGPT:

If I were ranking the 2025 starting quarterbacks specifically on late-game performance (one-score games in the fourth quarter and overtime), I’d combine:

  • Game-winning drives (GWD)
  • Fourth-quarter comebacks (4QC)
  • Efficiency in one-score fourth quarters
  • Turnover avoidance
  • EPA/QBR in high-leverage situations (where available)
  • Team success in close games

That produces something like this:

TierQuarterbacks
S+ (Best in NFL)Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Matthew Stafford
SJoe Burrow, Jayden Daniels, Bo Nix
AJared Goff, Justin Herbert, Jalen Hurts, Jordan Love
B+Brock Purdy, Baker Mayfield, Dak Prescott, Lamar Jackson
BTrevor Lawrence, Geno Smith, Caleb Williams, Drake Maye
C+Kyler Murray, C.J. Stroud, Tua Tagovailoa, Sam Darnold
CAaron Rodgers, Bryce Young, Russell Wilson, Anthony Richardson
DJustin Fields, Derek Carr, Daniel Jones, Will Levis
FJacoby Brissett, Deshaun Watson, Davis Mills, Aidan O’Connell*

*If counting quarterbacks who started enough games to qualify.

Where Brissett struggled

Compared with the average NFL starter:

MetricAverage StarterBrissett
Completion % (close 4Q)~65–68%58.0%
Passer Rating~90–9577.6
Team RecordRoughly .5001–5
TD:INTUsually 2:1 or better1:1

Why teams still like Brissett

Despite those numbers, Brissett still has qualities coaches value:

  • Rarely puts the ball in danger overall.
  • Good pre-snap recognition.
  • Well respected in the locker room.
  • Can execute an offense without many mental mistakes.
  • Good backup and bridge quarterback.

His ceiling, however, has generally been viewed as a high-end backup/low-end starter, not someone who consistently wins games late.

Bottom line

If you asked NFL front offices after the 2025 season to draft a quarterback for one final drive with the season on the line, Brissett would almost certainly have been selected in the bottom quarter of starters, likely around 28th–32nd. His 2025 situational statistics and Arizona’s 1–5 record in one-score fourth-quarter games support that assessment.
Sure wish we had someone in the C+ range.

Oh well.

It’s not your money. It won’t make any difference in our financial situation this year or in the future.

I cannot understand why people are wrapped up around this. The Cards said they’d do this back in March.

Ok, 602...a couple of years ago you mentioned you own your own business and I respect that.
With your admiration of Kyler Murray, I made a sarcastic remark that instead of Men's Big and Tall store you must own Men's Short and small store. I'm starting to think I was right and you just won't let it go that your top customer is gone. Mini-sota has FedX delivery my friend...Dear Lord ;)

Ya know, I've lived up to my name the last couple of days. I never argue with someone's opinion but lately I have, for that, I apologize. I suppose it's just my reaction to the less than hopeful season coming up.

And a little OT: That Cornhole Championship on the adult movie channel... I mean, I did a couple of those things when I was young and "experimenting"....but TONGUE? WTF??

Then why haven’t they done it?

My guess is they saw enough from Beck during OTAs and realize he's not the one. So, they'll be drafting another QB next year and to make sure they'll be in the running for the guy they want they'll trade JB to insure a 0–2-win season. :(

Unfortunately, this tweet provides very little information. Is Brissett only asking for $15M for this year or does he want $15M guaranteed for the next three years. Everything I have read has said the issue is guaranteed money in year three of the contract.
Wait...what... You mean nobody in this board knows what he is asking for? Could just be more fake news or as I call it. Minutia

No. It’s unimportant. The RBs barely played and it’s an anomaly that says nothing about JB’s worth . It’s such a small sample size it matters not.
It is certainly correct but it’s meaningless.
Not to mention a QB that's not the most Mobile in the league runs it's because they're in open field or there are lanes to run through. A RB many times hit the gap he's supposed to and there is no hole. So comparing a RB first downs to a QB is the crazy.
