With home court advantage in their corner through at least the first three rounds of the 2026 NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs, the Boston Celtics will play host to the Philadelphia 76ers at their home arena of TD Garden for Game 1 of the first-round series between these two Atlantic Division foes.
In that game, the Celtics will have an advantage in terms of player health, with the Sixers looking to be without one of their best big men. But this team has also gotten used to playing without him given several other injuries they'd previously suffered this season, so that may matter less than it normally would. We expect a Celtics win for this contest, but in the postseason, all teams are still playing for a reason.
At present, the Celtics come into this series with the No. 2 seed, and the Sixers the No. 7 after winning the right to face Boston in the 2026 East play-in tournament.
As this is Game 1, the series is currently tied 0-0.
Boston beat the Orlando Magic 113-108 at home.
Philly also beat the Magic at home, 109-107.
For Boston, no report was available at time of writing, but in their last game, Derrick White (knee), Neemias Queta (toe), Payton Pritchard (foot), Sam Hauser (back), Nikola Vucevic (finger), and Hugo Gonzalez (foot) were out (all are likely to play).
The same situation with Philly, in their last game, Joel Embiid (appendicitis) was out.
