The so-called Stay Ready Crew of the Boston Celtics deep bench rotation showed up in a major way when their number was called for the final game of the NBA's 2025-26 regular season for the Celtics. The usual reserves and deep reserves combined for a 113-108 win over the Orlando Magic at TD Garden this past Sunday (April 12) night while Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Derrick White, Sam Hauser, Payton Pritchard, and Neemias Queta sat out.
The feat was remarkable enough that Orlando head coach Jamahl Moseley even had praise for Boston's depth. "You’ve got to give them a ton of credit," he said. "Those eight players played together. They knew that they should and then made a ton of shots. Some of that was given to them by us, to turn that ball over 19 times for 23 points, that’s part of it. They had a ton of shot making going on, and then us turning it over was part of that."
"We’re proud of the effort we put out there," said Celtics guard Baylor Scheierman. "I think going into the game we’re expected to go out there and compete and win the game."
"I know going into the game that was our expectation and we’re excited that we won, and honestly, just getting ready for playoffs now," he added, switching gears to praise the 3-point shot from teammate Luka Garza that effectively sealed the deal for Boston.
"Honestly, he just threw that thing up there. But, I mean, it was a big time shot, a little catch eye keep eye. Yeah, I mean, we wanted to get him a 3, that’s not necessarily how we had it drawn up to get there but yeah."
