I'm better than Mulli!
If Luka can be traded without his consent or input and AD can likewise be traded so can Booker. A players only leverage is to either (a) sit (and not get paid); or (b) to say they are leaving once their contract is up. If we traded Booker to New Orleans because they offered the best package he’s got no recourse. He ain’t sitting out multiple years and missing all that payout and he’s locked in for five years. If New Orleans can’t attract free agents, landing someone of bookers talent who is locked in looks pretty good to them. He’s got zero leverage.I just don't understand any of this. You are saying since he's locked in for 5 years, he has no leverage? If he says he will walk once the 5 years is up, a team will call his bluff?
Book will be 33 when this is over. Whether we like it or not, his tenure with the team (if he spends the next 5 years with us) will have earned him the right to be accommodated.
KD had leverage because he had a year left in his contract. Butler had leverage because he was a pending free agent agent. Minny wouldn’t trade for KD because he intimated he would leave. Rarely do teams take a chance on a pending free agent (though the raptors did with kahwi and it paid off), but they would with a guy a lengthy multi-year deal.
