Blue Jays get good Dylan Cease injury news originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Toronto Blue Jays have three talented starting pitchers all rehabbing at Triple-A Buffalo at the same time.
Dylan Cease started Thursday, and Max Scherzer and Shane Bieber are up next as they try to return from their respective injuries.
The news from Cease's latest rehab start is positive.
Cease threw 75 pitches, 50 for strikes, and rehab outings are often mostly viewed through the lens of pitch counts.
This "likely means he can re-join the Blue Jays next turn if needed," The Athletic's Mitch Bannon wrote on X.

Even if the Blue Jays decided to wait on Cease, it'd be just one more rehab start at most.
But given that Toronto is using openers just to get through the week, it's probably time for Cease to return.
The Cease outing on Thursday wasn't perfect. He gave up five earned runs, along with six hits and a walk. He did strike out six, though, which is an encouraging sign about his stuff.
Rehab starts aren't exactly the same as Spring Training, but there's some overlap in the fact that pitchers simply want to get ramped back up so when they return to MLB regular season action, they're at full strength.
So for Cease on a night like Thursday, that's more about getting his pitch count back to a good place while also inducing some whiffs to prove his stuff is working. He did both of those things, and it shouldn't be long now until he's back with the Blue Jays.
